How do you gently arrest someone who is struggling against police restraint?

Why did she have to be arrested in the first place? Her "theft" only lasted for about the two meters out the shop door until the employees stopped her, she was not posing a threat when police caught up with her (for whatever reason), she was walking home, so no danger of flight, and was apparently confused and impaired in her communication.

There is no reason whatsoever for the completely disproportionate response of the officers.

How on earth do you expect a grown man to arrest a confused 73 year old woman without breaking her humerus, dislocating her shoulder, and then leaving her lying untreated in a cell for 6 hours while laughing at her with your friends. I mean, that seems like standard procedure to me.

To be fair, judging from how heavily the officer huffed and puffed after having finally incapacitated Bonnie without Clyde, her walking home holding the wildflowers was probably one of the potentially most lethal struggles against police restraint ever caught in camera. Grabbing and throwing her to the ground like an oversized doughnut you just noticed had praline filling instead of chocolate was probably the only tool available to the law enforcement representative.

Well you know, a little muddy a little bloody, broken arm and extended neglect, just the way we roll in America.

It always amuses me how Republicans scream their love of Capitalism but start clutching the pearls the moment private businesses won’t do what their political platform wants them too (which is communism).

First they wanted to tell people how to live. Now they want to regulate private businesses beyond the scope of law. I hear Trump is going to release a little red book of quotations soon. Meh

Like with Christianity and the police, Republicans don't really like capitalism in and of itself. They only like it when they can use it as a tool to maintain an unjust society with themselves on top. The supposed "socialist" Democrats seem to have a better hang on what capitalism actually is.

I eagerly await for another conservative bill to be struck down in court. Those Florida Republicans seem to forget private businesses do have free speech and expression rights and this law clearly tramples on that.

Dealing with the police is just like dealing with any other prone to violence armed human; you comply. Whether it is someone robbing or raping or arresting you it DOES NOT MATTER if what they are doing is illegal. You comply. Then later you report violations. That old woman was a serious threat to that cop. Do we really want to live in a world where police don't beat up defenseless old ladies? Next you are going to tell me whites don't deserve more because they stole it.

I’m not sure how much you’ve dealt with people with dementia. But by their very nature they don’t comply. Nursing home staff is trained for this. These officers just broke her bones and proceeded to mock her after. And correctly got fired for their troubles.

She didn’t ask for first aid. How were the police to know she needed it? I suppose you think it’s rape if a woman doesn’t want sex but doesn’t say no too?

The world can’t function like this. Police need to do an impossible job. Comply and you won’t get hurt makes sense to a lot of people. I admit the majority come from the lower classes and aren’t educated, and there are a considerable amount of Nazis and racists and people who self pleasure to guns and see their version of god as the only one. But there are good people too. True patriots.
