Perhaps Twitter misrepresented the case to me. That’s where I first heard of it.

One life sentence in the federal case with a jury recommending life with 412 years in the state case. Good riddance.

An interesting reading about the failures and underwhelming performance of the Israeli Army during the invasion of Lebanon in 2006:

Fun summer time in Germany where we see a glimpse of what's next thanks to Angela Merkel:

German pool guard tries to keep ordnung, while pretty much everyone is a Middle-Eastern immigrant and he's the last German left. Nobody obeys him, they all mock him. I think this is good. Germany is an Open Society, a Land of Immigration and the country does not belong to ethnic Germans but to newcomers who want to make it home. Italy should also take advantage of this, since German NGOs keep trying to smuggle illegal immigrants here. The solution? Send them to Germany, where they want to go and belong. They are Germans. We should be allowed to issue German citizenships to every refugee that is brought here tby German NGOs. They can enrich the German economy and the boring German culture.

Interesting indeed. The IDF is often hyped up in terms of military effectiveness due to their earlier wars.

The problem was the over-reliance on airpower and refusal to commit ground forces. America has suffered from the same issues in recent conquests.

The Arab-Israeli wars where a fight for survival, the Israelies through everything they had at it and fought tooth and nail. Lebanon was a pulled punch.

It's notable the man in charge, Halutz, was from an air force background, which is unusual for Israel. He had been a decent combat pilot, but as the commander of Israel's combined armed forces, he was generally incompetent and corrupt. Halutz spent the first three hours of the conflict focused on selling off all his investments rather than taking charge of the situation, knowing full well that Israel's economy takes a hit regardless of the outcome in any conflict. Overconfidence, lack of preparedness to fight against a competent enemy, and bad doctrine also played a role. The defense minster Peretz was incompetent as well. He pointlessly advocated for a drive to the Litani in the last 48 hours of war, which would have actually been a useful strategy in the the first 48 hours. The causalities taken in that drive might have meant something if they had managed to stop the rockets coming down on Israeli cities instead of accomplishing nothing. Peretz had been a logistics officer during his time in the military, yet as defense minster he couldn't manage to arrange for the reserve units to go into combat with adequate food, weapons, water, or ammunition.

Here's Peretz (on the right) observing a military exercise:

    The Perception Gap

To learn how well Americans understand each other, we partnered with global research firm YouGov to survey 2,100 Americans. On issues including climate change, patriotism, sexual assault, police conduct and more, we asked Americans what they themselves believed and what they estimated people on the other side believed. We were then able to calculate the difference between the predictions and reality.

The conclusion? Americans have a deeply distorted understanding of each other. We call this America’s “Perception Gap”. Overall, Democrats and Republicans imagine almost twice as many of their political opponents as reality hold views they consider “extreme”. Even on the most controversial issues in our national debates, Americans are less divided than most of us think. This is good news for those worried about the character of this country. The majority of Americans hold views that may not be so different from your own.

I hope you all realize how awful debates like this look in America. We often focus on the European debates in the US as "backwards" or what not. We look to Europe to utilize the influence in promoting our policies in whatever is fashionable at the time. I think at this point we must break from the norm. The vast majority of you all think we are dumb or whatever which is great, because it has basically enabled us to take advantage of you for the past decade. You have absorbed the results of our globalist policies and global warfare for the past 20 years. Apparently you all feel moral about this, lol. Great. These globalist European politicians are our greatest hope at displacing third world migrants outside of our borders to yours. I hope very nuch that we can absorb Latin American migrants and shift them to residing in Europe, since yall are so open to recepting uncocumented migrants.

    Totally fake. Sad.

'Supporters' in Trump Facebook adverts were actors
A series of Facebook adverts showing people endorsing Donald Trump for his re-election campaign appeared to be actors featured on a stock video and image website.

One of the short videos posted in June on the social network shows 'Tracey from Florida' walking along a beach with a voiceover that says "President Trump is doing a great job, I could not ask for a better President of the United States of America."

But 'Tracey from Florida' is an actress, and the clip of her used in the Trump advert is available on the iStock by Getty images website for a fee. Footage of Tracey jogging, working in a warehouse, taking her dog for a walk and even dressed as a doctor are also available.

The video's authenticity was first highlighted in a political newsletter last week by journalist Judd Legum, who wrote: "Trump is not polling well among women in general and young women in particular. So it is running an advertisement on Facebook and Google featuring "Tracey" a young woman who is presented as a big Trump fan."

Although the advert shows a small disclaimer at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds saying "actual testimonial, actor portrayal," some people are asking why a president who can command an audience of genuine supporters and who is quick to criticise 'fake news' would need to use actors in promotional adverts.

The President gave a great speech, wish I could've been there to see it.

Donald Trump made an awkward blunder during his speech on Independence Day, praising the army, which he said “took over the airports” from the British during the revolutionary war in the late 1700s.

During his tribute to the army, Trump said: “In June of 1775, the Continental Congress created a unified army out of the revolutionary forces encamped around Boston and New York … The Continental Army suffered a bitter winter of Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware, and seized victory from Cornwallis of Yorktown.

“Our army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry, under the rockets’ red glare, it had nothing but victory.”

As listeners were quick to point out, air travel did not occur in the US until early in the 1900s. The Wright brothers, whom Trump praised earlier in his speech, are credited with flying the world’s first plane in 1903.

However, this was not the only historical confusion in this section of Trump’s speech. As astute listeners picked out, the battle of Fort McHenry occurred during the war of 1812, and not the American revolutionary war which took place several decades earlier.

Looks like propaganda, to be honest. The scientific field of history belongs to the humanities, which are traditionally controlled by effeminate liberals, so I remain skeptical.

Anyway, had the allegation been true, what would trigger me the most would be the Yorktown reference. Hadn't been for the French Fleet and Army of Counts de Grasse and de Rochambeau, Washington would have rotten in a prison hulk and the Second Amendment would nowadays protect each individual's right to to keep and bear a cup of tea every afternoon.
