    Default Sneaky F'ing French Assassins

Man, I'm having a grand old time playing on H/H as the English...good battles against the stinky cheese eaters...I managed to kill a few of their family members, including an heir, in open battle, so what do they do? Apparently send waves of assassins, as for every family member I killed in battle, I lost one of my own on the next turn to an assassin's blade, including my faction heir...

It's driving me crazy, lost 4 legitimate family members (no adopted guys or in laws) so far plus a few princesses and merchants all in about 10 turns...can't decide if I love it, cuz I almost never was assassinated in MTW1, or if I hate it cuz they are slowly killing every single family member I have...its a race to wipe them out before they cut all my nobles throats....good times.

So, anyone else getting assassinated like mad? If so, particular factions doing the shivving?

As i have most of Northern France and Milan most of Southern France, the French were acting as a buffer between us, or so I thought.

Last night the started sending in their assassins, and killed of a few agents and generals, they have now almost finished the French off and are sending in their armies.

Currently they have 3 assassins sitting outside Rennes, I try and counter them with my own assassins, it's become a bit of a Cold War.

Yea definitely, suddenly having a spy and assassin in each general-led army or settlement is crucial. Cool that the AI makes you pay for not having them, and makes it fun to engage in byzantine intrigue.

I try and keep at least a spy in each border settlement, to prevent enemy spies from staying too long and causing unrest.

If i can afford it I'll keep a few assassins around to try and deal with spies hanging around, the unrest they cause can damage your economy.

I just wish that they wouldn't lose experience for failing a mission.

I am. It's shite as well cause it'll take forever for an assassin to successfully kill another. And even when there can be a 80% chance, if you miss it goes way back down to like 30%

Yeah, it seems assassins play a bigger role in this game. Playing as the English, in my campaign to conquer France and Germany, I'm encountering waves upon waves of various assassins. The ones that are giving me the most stress are the French. Over the years, they managed to kill three of my Kings, two of them were the best I've had in awhile, in a period of 5 turns. Talk about BS. I even had a hard time killing those pricks. My assassins are getting better now so I'm beginning to clean house.

It's awful, in a really good way, to destroy a huge French stack then take Paris, and then have your King whacked. Almost movie like, I can picture the celebration back at the King's camp where everyone is toasting and getting wasted, then the ominous music plays as the King goes to take a leak and gets shivved...alarms sound, women are crying, etc.

I am playing as the Scots and after running the english pigdogs nearly off the map, their 3 remaining regions keep pumping out assassins and sending them my way. Every turn for about the last 15 I see an english assassin on my campaign map stab himself. Not one has landed a blow to any of my nobles yet!
