    Default Whole Army Formations (Concept)

    Would it be possible to implement additional army formations into the mod. These formations would then provide bonuses for units. However, in order to create these formations your general must meet the given requirements for example the general must have a certain trait. These formations could also be unlocked through reforms e.g. the Marian reforms for the Romans, the formations would also require certain kinds of units to be formed. For example the triple line republican formation for the Romans could be formed if units of Hastati, Principes and Triarii were present on the battlefield. I do understand that these formations would involve editing the BAI but I think that they would really add to battles. As well as this these formations could further add diversity between factions, adding even more depth to the mod.

    I doubt that can be modded in without unjust effort.

    Formations are actually fairly difficult to mod. I don't believe anyone has actually figured out how to do it.

    I'm relatively certain it's not possible to add new formations, but editing existing ones is supposedly an option. There is a guide over on the TW forum for this, however finding the .xml file has proven less easy. As Causeless said, this would require more resources and effort than we can manage at the moment, to little gain. The idea itself is good, and it might be worth looking at later down the line.
