I've played for a while and must say the balance is pitiful. Lydian archer chariots the same stats as hoplites AND 5 hits points? If I cant alter that its not really playable.

Gotta agree with you there. The Lydian units are way overpowered imo. Also the babylonians and lydians gain so much money they can pump out their powerful units to take over the world easily.
Blut und Boden
I agree. The Lydians, Babylonians, and Kyrene all seem too be over powered. Where as Parsa and Kemet seem to be under powered. Though I like where the mainland greece greeks are, there were city states and rarely ever expanded militarily.
I'm trying to balance the game a bit on my computer. For one thing, I have made all chariots 1,2 rather than the overpowered 2,5. I wish I knew how to edit the map though and get rid of the Byzantion-Asia landbridge.
It turned out (stupid but true) there was an older version of our EDU.txt included in our beta, with indeed totally wrong balancing.
After some testing, I also saw that the landbridge is not that good for the game balance. As Taras, I was already facing the Lydians near me (they conquered entire northern Europe) in 536 BC.
What I will do, is recode the stats file and try to get rid of the landbridge, and release it as a balancing-minipatch. (After thorough testing of course)

One way to create balance is to make the Babylonians and Lydians plauged by revolts, and also you really do need to lessen the Babylonias, and Lydians its almost impossibe to beat them with Persia, also maby increace the Persians units stats. For instance make the Persian Archer also be capable of acting like Light Infantry. Also add some other units to the Persian Side. Oh and the Most overpowered unit probally is the Babylonia Axeman, they're almost imperivious to anything and you require almost 4 times as many men to take one unit of them down.

Lydia and BabIlu do seem quite powerful and difficult to defeat as Persa. Though once you get immortals ("Anuysia") as Parsa, you can defeat nearly anything.

I agree too, barbarian Peltalsts(sp?) and archers are incredibaly annoying...1. there ranged missles can take out atleast 6 General Bodyguards with each volley. and 2. They run so fast that the only way to take them out is with calvary which makes it extremely hard for Kyrene because the only calvary they get is light ranged ones.

Skirmishers are indeed annoying to factions without much cavalry. That's what they're designed for (actually for taking out chariots quickly). Since Kyrene is (too) powerful on the campaign map, it won't be that much of a problem, I think. We will look into it though, see what we can do.

Heres a Idea for the Babilonian axeman tone them down substansially. Or make them only recruitable in one place.

We will look into that unit again. It really was a very overpowering force, but for the sake of gameplay we might tone them down a little more.
