Default Assigning unique meshes to each faction

    Hello friends,

I'll preface this by saying I have little to no experience in the database editing portion of Total War modding. Most of the modding I've done has been minor 2D art work and some even more minor 3D modeling. I've recently taken on a project of creating new portraits for faction leaders and generals in KLA's faction leaders mod as well as in Agrez's faction reskins on Steam.

Initially, my workflow involved opening each variant mesh in the variant editor, taking a screen shot, and editing in GIMP. It was working well until I realized many of the variant meshes are reused for multiple factions. Unless I painstakingly create detailed masks for each variant mesh, a general will have the same faction colors for the Saxons, Jutes, Geats, and Danes.

Here was my thought, and I don't know if it can be done so forgive my ignorance: I would love to be able to add a _saxons tag to each Saxon variant mesh and portrait so that those particular files are only assigned to Saxons. Similarly, I would add a _jutes tag to the Jutes files... etc, etc. I don't know where in the database if anywhere I could edit which variant meshes the Saxons use for generals so that only one set of meshes are used for Saxons, a completely different set is used for Jutes, and so on. It may seem like a lot of work for little return, but having to create masks for so many generals is crippling my ability to work efficiently.

    Thanks in advance,
    Fozzie

I may have solved my own problem. I believe the solution to my question is in the Agent Uniform Table. I'll have to look into it a little more deeply tomorrow when I have some time.
