Default DeI Multiplayer (now we have a submod to test)

I know this mod was designed mostly for its campaign and its there where it reveals its true glory. Im also pretty sure that are some multiplayer enthuziasts which are not happy playing against AI and what a better way to face a human opponent than takin advantage of DeI generous rosters.

For those who wanna play and test the mod online add me on steam (I have the same name) and join our group linked above.

    Curently requirements:

-Divide et Impera Steam Collection (Patch 16)
    -DeI Multiplayer Submod
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...player-battles

to install the submod In Mod Manager, check "enable out of date mods" and be sure that the file "@multiplayerdei.pack" is checked.

I never played any MP battles in vanilla trash but I would love it to play this against a fellow player for a change

From what I know it is already possible to play DeI in MP but I might be wrong.

    My Steam username is gornoviceanu_andrei

PS: if it were me, I'd leave the faster battles where they are. But that's my cup of tea I guess

edit: just noticed we are from the same country

Oh I dont mean that as an insult to DEI team, wich is the best mod Ive tried for rome 2. I just dont see any future in fixing CA AI, when real tw experience is multiplayer

Personally after medieval 2 cant play ANY total war game in singleplayer, AI its just unbearably stupid.
That has supposed me many hours of looking for partners, and adapting mods for mp campaigns.
Yeah it will be great to have the mod adapted to mp a bit more, since I cant see any improvement done to AI (tried it yesterday) AI is as bad as it was vanilla 1.0.

You can't mod battle AI in Rome 2, hence it won't be any better then in 1.0. Although we implemented some bandaids like better spotting range so AI units notice players units faster and won't do that ridiculous shuffle right in front of your lines as suddenly spearmen on one wing noticed that you have cavalry on the opposite wing.

Have anyone tried online battles in LAN with Rome 2 using VPN services like Tunngle, Hamachi, Evolve, Gameranger etc? I dont think they work

Usuuly LAN battles work smoother then thsoe on steam servers especially with TW games.

That explains a lot thanks KAM .
Oh and yes I've played empire tw in tunngle, to avoid steam problems.
And a question, is there any thoughts about MP when developing the mod, and if not, why?

In my opinion it is ready for MP since release, but I guess MP community wants more vanilla battles from realism mod

to be honest I think the realism is a little bit undue. Havent seen anything convincing in any mod. There are more inconveniencies than gains when going online.

@Luis Daoiz y Velarde I know about Empire total war and any other title. The thing is with Rome 2 they decided to make evrything different. So from almost a month I didnt get any confirm this is playable through LOCAL network using a VPN service (posted on Tehncial , MP battlefield, total war forums etc). One guy have played it long time ago but using the LAN cables which is another story and it was...I dont know when with what patch.

Then like I wrote in other thread, why play historical mods in you prefer vanilla combat?

I never said I like vanilla battles, quite the contrary, I like long strategic engagements where both players can use tactics.
And for mp is very important to have units and some faction balance I think

battle are more balanced in vanilla atm. Horse archers are not that effective like they used to, Rome is finally prety decent, peltasts are no longer OP once the thureos spears have more ammo and are more usefull etc.

But really we need to test things out first. Coming back to original DEI is also an option.

    Anyone actually play this?

    My steam name is Best2nd.

Also do I REALLY need the steam version because I have the standalone version but for patch 16.

well lets not complicate things and have different versions for different patches.

From my understanding, steam and standalone versions are exactly the same except that steam version is split in 6 due to steam workshop limitations.

He was responding to someone else.

DeI is actually very well balanced currently and will be even more so in 1.1. Everyone has to realize that Rome 2 has extremely interesting faction variation for mods to play with and we have added thousands of units. These are all things to consider in terms of balance difficulties.
