Those of you who have played the Sweden and Denmark campaigns may have found the campaigns a little too easy. I am attaching a campaign script that makes these campaigns a little harder. Specifically it makes the Archduchy of Austria, Spain and the Catholic League more aggressive and showing a tendency to move further north, so as to give Denmark and Sweden a little bit of trouble. Do not expect miracles though.
I will post in this thread youtube clips documenting a Kingdom of Sweden campaign, on VH/VH. Sweden can turtle at the beginning and has enough merchants to keep it making a healthy profit each turn. The Swedish cities provide many excellent if expensive units, which can also be hired from some of the settlements the Swedes came to control during the war, such as Danzig, Dirschau, Stralsund and a few other ports on the Baltic coast. The difficulty with the Swedish campaign is the upkeep of these units, which has to be subsidized by donations from Sweden’s allies, for which Sweden’s diplomats are crucial. Among the unique Swedish units are the Finnish Hakkapelita light cavalry, the elite Swedish Blue and Yellow brigades and an assortment of Scottish units, among them the very capable musketeers and pikemen of McKayes Scottish Brigade, that included Robert Monro’s infamous regiment. The Swedish are also the only faction to have access to the leather cannon, an invention of Gustav Adolf, and to the Swedish formation also invented by Gustav Adolf and which is probably the best overall pike and shot formation in the game.
Sweden needs to eliminate the Catholic League and own 35 settlements, including several settlements of Denmark-Norway and the Protestant League around the Baltic.
This first youtube clip documents the first 26 turns of the campaign, during which the focus was building up the Swedish cities, focusing on trade and the sealing of alliances with the other Protestant factions.
This is the campaign script you would need to install, if you are looking for a somewhat greater challenge. Rename the campaign script in data>world>maps>campaign>imperial_campaign>campaign_script into campaign_script_original so you can get back to it. Then copy the attached file into that folder before you start the Swedish campaign. This campaign script is also appropriate for playing Denmark but unbalances the game, so definitely do not use it for other campaigns except these two.
