That's the changes brought with the accompanying Le Guin patch though

    Has it really been improved?

Steam reviews are pretty negative. I would like to give it another try if only for the new version of the Start Trek : New Horizons mod, but I refuse to touch this before diplomacy is improved. Mid game was completely boring because of this and from what I've read, little has been done in this regard. Which would be pathetic considering the game is almost 3 years old.

I bought this game a bit before this most recent DLC, and did buy the DLC. I like it quite a bit , and the megacorporations are pretty fun, and interesting. I do agree, the mid-game is really lacking. I wish the early game lasted longer, maybe it's the difficulty I am playing, but I barely get to explore and I have to rush to close off entrances into my cluster. The ai just overextends and eats up everything, while I have to actually watch and carefully plan how much I take and do. Not like it's really that hard to defeat an enemy, half the time I make so much damn money I just buy a fleet of mercs and stomp them (though I think war exhaustion is way too fast, generally).

Speaking of mods I found a couple today that I'm going to start on a new run. I finished my last campaign last night.

    The Galactic Nations Assembly

""Basically the United Nations in space, but somewhat useful."
Note: The GNA will become available after 60 years and 75% of the galaxy's nations have been discovered by one nation to prevent too much overlap with the market. I do not guarantee this mod will function correctly if added during an ongoing game.

    Shape how the Galaxy Thinks*
    - Seek to outlaw or legalize the fates for natives.
    - Decide whether or not the galaxy thinks purging IS a moral practice to partake in.
    - Is slavery in or is it out?
    - Should planet killing weapons of mass destruction be a casual addition to everyday life?
    - Tell the world that AI will definitely not kill you all, or desperately tell them automating ships with sentience is a bad idea.

    Target your Rivals*
    - Denounce that purge loving neighbor you have and make him feel really bad.
    - Tell the neighborhood bully he pays extra for goods on the market because he's a mean person.
    - Call for a crusade. Because some people just don't learn when to stop.

    Work Together as a Galaxy*
    - Crowdfund some megastructure projects together with the galaxy.
    - Prioritize research as a galaxy.
    - Use the market to subsidize resource production.

    Pay for usual Politics
    - From using somewhat illegal means to buy votes,
    - To showing off how much money you're willing to spend on elections.

*These issues will need a majority vote to pass."

    Ecology Mod

"Ecology Mod is a gameplay overhaul designed to bring out the environmental problems of inhabiting worlds and expanding as a galactic empire."

Personally, I do not relish the idea of buying a star exploration/ conquest game only to turn it into a TV/ movie world.

@ herne, I like the Ecology Mod.

Now with the introduction of trade, I think it is time to work on combat system, particularly land combat system.
