Default Let's speak our ancient voices

What I found somewhat dissapointing in M2TW was the generals' speeches. Short and with a lousy accent for all factions. I thing we should all unite some efforts to make the speeches better and original. I thing about re-taping the byzantine, turkish and latin speeches for byzantine turks and the papal faction respectively myself. I think that it would be the best to hear the original (ancient greek, ottoman turkish, and late latin) languages while the text should remain in english. Any others that have a knowledge of their ancient languages shall be most welcomed. For instance I would love to hear some polish or russian in my game.
By the way I miss my manly Roman general's speeches...

Sounds like an awesome idea if it can be done

Though for the byzantines, I dunno exactly what you mean by ancient greek, but at least for the pronunciation, by mediaeval times it should already be pronounced like modern greek (and not this humanist Erasmian stuff they teach to us at western schools). I just saw this movie, taking place in the 10th century, where an actor was attempting to pronounce a couple of greek words like Pericles or someone would've done. It was hilarious if maybe not so accurate...

(Of course, I don't know where you are from, if you are greek yourself then you hardly need to be told how to pronounce your own language so just ignore me)

But my knowledge of old languages doesn't extend beyond some greek and a little latin so I'll just wish you luck :thumbsup

Wait before you click Start Battle, and the speech should start.

A similar idea is already going on, Xenophonia. We are listed in the MTW2 Mod section. You might wanna check it out.

Odd. I know they don't start up if you are defending a town, but otherwise they should.

You know what I mean. Instead of having multiple voice mods, it's better just to have one. Looking forward to Xenophonia.

You need to be attacking and you need to be playing in campaign mode. I don't think custom battle does it.

I have only played in campaign mode and have attacked plenty, still never heard a speach. I often find myself waiting for it reflexibely because of Rome, even when I thought they just were not in the game, so pretty sure they are not playing for me.

I have only played as England so far, but I would assume if they got lazy and only did speaches for certain factions and not others, England would probably be top of thier list.

Makes me wonder if it is some kind of bug. I have no other sound problems, I can hear units reply when I order them both on the campaign map and during battles.

Err. What? Who said anything about Brythonic?

Anyway, the Scots' speech is absolutely terrible. We're working on that. :-D If you wanna help, SOE, join us! We need some more Gaelic speakers.
