    Default Where's Cair Andros?

Ive been playing the game as RK and i just noticed something... why isnt there a city for Cair Andros? Its the sight of a fortress of Gondor, i would think that it would be a decent garrison town in the RK and a more logical choice for a city in north Ithilien than Minas Ithil, which i think should be made into a province of its own.
Oh and one more thing, why does the Andrast start as a Outlaw settlement? Its well within the borders of the RK... just doesnt make sense.

Whatever, just a thought for when the full version of Fourth Age comes out.

We're working on Cair Andros..as the sea river does not on our current map extend up to that location we cannot make it a real island as of yet. We will tinker with it however and make it look more like it should, though we will have to rejig the models as we have used all the slots.

Generally speaking settlements and fortresses are being kept separate. The rebel status of Anfalas was tied into the storyline which, in the full game, began a year later than the CI minicampaign.

Im sure you know that JRRT tells us that the Anduin was navigable upto at least the junction of the Isen, as its at that point that Corsairs landed and raided, as recounted in UT.

To the best of my knowledge the Anduin was navigable all the way to Ered Mithrin but in two parts with the Falls of Rauros acting as a divide.( it had portage but size of boat/ship would have a say on that) . The Isen runs south west from the Misty Mtns do you mean the Mouths of the Entwash ? .

Yes, we are aware of the fact that the Anduin's width and depth allowed larger ships further north than we have it; however, other considerations - and the fact that we have decided upon a chiefly land-based campaign - took us in the direction we have followed.

I understood that to be the case, the ai would have a hard time coridinating any river crossing if you went strictly with what JRRT said about the river, Ie Cair Andros imprtance as a crossing point becomes a bottle neck unless you have ships to cross the Anduin and it would be a pretty boring game fight endless sieges at Cair andros.

for the main campaign dont forget that yoy can asign trade along nv rivers the same as over seas to increase regions trade values, personal;y trade in ME i be;lieve to be l;ess in value than agriculture except for certain high profit exchanges that were not the norm, but that just my personal preference for not seeing the bulk of income from trade but from agricultre.

Just a thought though, did you consider making the mouths of major river nav for a few tiles in and then revert to normal river status?, it would make entry into the RK much easier for the ai factions and spread out RK responses. Not that fighting principly in Ithilien is not just fina and damndy mind you!.

I was thinking of what JRRT wrote in Unfiished Tales where he tells that Corsairs sailed upriver and debarked at the junction of the Isen to the Anduin, so we know for sure it was nav upto that point, probably easier with slaves rowing, rather than sail only though as the river current must be pretty strong, since the 2nd Age saw bridges built to cross it rather than transport down in ships from Rivendell is a fair bet there was no shipping as such beyond Anorien.
