Default Duskendale, Seat of House Darklyn

Duskendale is a prosperous port town located off the coast of Blackwater Bay. Bustling and prosperous, Duskendale boasts a thriving market, with cobbled streets leading out into the harbour. Merchant ships moor here regularly, loading and unloading various goods on and off their seacraft. The mercantile guilds and organisations establish here thrive in the newfound peace, and they are allowed to trade unhindered so long as they pay their dues to Lord Darklyn, who watches over the city from the Dun Fort. Every day, new petitioners make their way up to the square fortress, with Lord Darklyn handling any and all matters, both trivial and gravely important. Following the war, Duskendale has rebuilt itself, with even more traders now visiting the prosperous town after being driven away by the dangerous riots in Kings Landing. Even the nearby fishing villages have swollen in size, and some of the outlying settlements have become engulfed by the ever expanding throng of settlements that exist just outside the city walls.

    Upgrades:
Dockyard: +500 Naval Points, +10% Income
    Market Square: +10% Income
Wall Reinforcements: +1 Siege Defence rolls.

    Regional Bonuses:

The Dun Fort: The Dun Fort is a large castle that overlooks the town of Duskendale. It is the seat of House Darklyn. It has a large square keep and big drum towers. +2 siege defense.
Royal Seat: Duskendale used to be the royal seat of the Darklyn Kings before they were conquered by the Stormlanders. As a result, it is a settlement of great importance, size, and wealth. +5% land income.
Major Port: The second largest port in the Crownlands behind the capital of King’s Landing itself, the ideal location of Duskendale, sheltered behind a large cliff face from the Narrow Sea storms has made it a great trade haven, granting the owner of the city and additional trade route.

The Merchant answered Lord Darklyn's summons and traveled to Duskendale to meet with him.

Vernon is led up through the city by armed soldiers, and is escorted up into the Dun Fort. There, in the solar, does Lord Darklyn await him, pacing back and forth around the room.

Vernon of Rayonet bowed before him and then said

"You asked for my presence, Lord Darklyn. How may I be of service?"

The merchant had learnt how to adress nobility and how to overall don't look or sound like a thug. It was hard for him but necessary.

Tristan stopped pacing, and turned, sizing up the merchant. Raising an eyebrow as the lame merchant made an effort to be courteous, Tristan responded, with a subtle hint of derision in his voice.

"Merchant." He merely replied, "The guildsmen tell me that you are responsible for organising a trade route between Braavos and King's Landing. You shall do the same for me, with Lorath." Pausing, Tristan clasped his hands behind his back. "I will pay you, of course. I know you do not work for free."

"I require payment upfront. Of which half will be returned if I fail to secure what you seek. Those are my terms."

"Twelve thousand dragons." Tristan said, nonchalantly. "A ship awaits you in the dock."

"That's a rather miserly sum. Twenty thousand gold coins and I shall be on my way."

Tristan narrowed his eyes at the merchant, fixing a cool stare.

"I have little time to haggle. Eighteen thousand, and you shall begone."

    Vernon remained calm.

"It'll have to do. We'll see each other soon, Lord Darklyn."

Merely nodding, Darklyn continued pacing as Vernon was lead towards the docks.

Corlys is welcomed into Lord Darklyn's solar. There he finds Tristan sat at a stout desk, with an untouched goblet of wine set out in front of him. Looking up at Lord Corlys as he enters, he rises.

"Lord Corlys. Welcome. Please, sit." Tristan said, politely, but with minimum expression.

"Greetigns, Lord Tristan, thank-you for receiving me. How fares the Dun Fort?" Corlys replies in a friendly tone. House Darklyn had sided with Rhaenyra during the war, so Corlys counted them as allies.

Corlys nodded, "Aye to High Tide as well. I've come on a family matter, an area I regret to say I have let slide over the past few years, with the war and then the riots and what not. Rhaenys was always good at dealing with family things..." A sad look crossed his face, but he brushed over it. "I have a grandson, Alyn, I would like to see him married now he is a man grown. A noble house from the Crownlands such as yours would be an honour."

"My sister, a woman grown of twenty four years, is unwed." Tristan replied, rather business like. "If it is your wish, they can be married before the moon's turn."

Corlys pondered, "That suits me." He wasn't sure how to continue, he hadn't had to do this before. "I can have a ship bring her and your family to Driftmark to meet, and if all goes well, for the wedding, if you wish?"

"No need, Lord Corlys. I shall arrange for my own ships to carry us to Driftmark." Pausing slightly, his emerald eyes watching Corlys as he spoke. "I am sure they will be well acquainted, soon enough."
