The Reach is the heartland of chivalry in Westeros. Historically some of the greatest knights were born to the mothers and fathers of the fertile green plains. As such, it is home to a myriad of the finest shows of knightly gallantry, from the day-long clashes between young squires to the week-spanning tournaments which devestate the fields for months to come.
As befitting a house as great as the Tyrells, no expense had been spared on the building of the areas. The tilts were solid oak, the personal sigils of several houses - Hightower, Grimm, Roxton, Fossoway and Tyrell - carved in to the very heart of the wood. They were lined up uniformly, the stands erected with metal reinforcements and a hundred banners depicting the tales and legends of House Tyrell and the Reach. The melee fields were flat pits, the earth churned and then flattened before wooden planks were laid. Over those sands two inches deep was poured on top. White sand to give the audience a good canvas on which to see their warriors fight.
