Default Muslims say God Bless America

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzLnMk-bO8w

"Instead of going to Britain to ask for asylum and to beg for food, we should welcome them, so they can rid us of these despicable dictators, who have plundered Iraq's resources and turned the Iraqis into their slaves.

We did not know what democracy was until America brought it against our will. We did not want democracy or freedom."

    "Blessed be America."

He should marry Wafa Sultan, and have a whole nursery of babies who will become the great leaders of Arabic liberty in the next generation.

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty,
the tranquility of servitude greater than
the animating contest for freedom, go
home from us in peace. We seek not
your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
down and lick the hand that feeds you,
and may posterity forget that ye were
    our countrymen."

Well I can't disagree with the ideas he has about Arab culture either which for a while now I have argued is what most peoples problem is with Islam. The nastier aspects of that culture have become attached to certain interpretations of Islam and brought out what we see today and generalise as being Islam.

Not sure about Memri broadcasts though which are always heavily edited and biased.

I would have loved to see the whole segment because the guy in the bottom right corner looked like he didn't like what the dude was saying.

Seneca, why William Shatner as the avatar?

It always gets me when people say we forced democracy on Iraq. If there ever was a contradiction in terms then that is it, as I don’t how you force democracy on anyone.

Well, you mainly do it by invading and forcibly changing their system of governemnt without consulting them on what governmental system they themselves want. But other than that...

I knew when I saw you name on the last post link you would be picking up on my point. I must have a sixth sense or something.

That still doesn’t explain how democracy can be forced on someone. The Iraqis simple had the choice of leaving the interim government in charge and they could have chosen not to vote or stay at home or spoil there voting tickets.

I think the majority did not vote, Freddie, if my memory serves; and that was really the only way to protest against democracy. So...

Equally are the 40%+ who stay at home in the UK for elections or spoil their ballots not having democracy forced on them?

Your memory does not serve...at all. One of the most astounding things about Iraq's elections and referenda was the fact that they had a larger share of eligible voters voting than did the United States and many Western democracies.

Well if the majority of people voted then it means that the majority of them support the fledgling democracy. In fact the opposite is true; to protest against the current status quo they would have chosen to stay at home, which really would have been a poke in the eye for the coalition.

You can’t compare a mature democracy such as Britain to a virgin democracy such as Iraq. Voter apathy had more to do with the lack of choice and perceived change if a new party came to power, rather then any disinterest in the democratic process.

And I guess we "forced" them to all vote too. Yeah...

I just loved the dumbfounded speechless look on the other guests faces. The truth really hurts. Too bad there aren't more ministers like him. BTW this guys is a Shia Imam (shia clerics where black turbans).

If only 22 million Iraqis agreed with this man, and 1,5 billion Moslems (assuming the translation was correct, I don't understand Artabic).

Unfortunately, I do not think this is the general view of the Moslem world, Iraqis are mostly glad to be rid of the horrible ruler that was Saddam, but with the current situation, it doesn't help much. Anyway, what was really interesting about this clip, (since I don't believe that many agree with this guy) was that it seemed to be a debate program from within the Islamic world with a lot of free discussion. Free press, is a great start to progress, as opposed to foreign invasion.

If only the Iraq war was as good for the other 22 million Iraqi's as it was for this man.

He's an Iraqi MP, of course he's happy with the "democracy" in Iraq.

While I agree that more people would be better, even just one person is already good, and justice (to America) is done.

Really? But then it was great injustice to have Saddam removed! If one person is already good then Saddam was good (in his opinion and those in power). And injustice was done!

In reality, until most people agree with this imam, out of their free will and not forced/paid, what you perceive as "justice being done" has not taken place.

In Finland we have a saying "One sparrow does not make summer" which fits this situation nicely.

I don't follow. Justice is a recognition of fact, so one person recognizing the good of America is justice done by that person, towards America. What are you talking about?
