Hearing news of the capital's distress, Monfyrd of the House Baratheon moves a mighty host into the shade of the Kingswood. He does not try to hide them; for every day since he arrived at the northern edge of the Kingswood and the shores of the Blackwater Bay, small parties of mounted soldiers ride out to survey King's Landing bearing no flags. Lord Baratheon hoped that at some point, someone would take notice of this. His eyes gazed ever at the rising smoke from the capital. For now, Monfyrd would drink and ever be patient.

Archers lined the walls of the great city as the Kings Gate creaked open and nearly 200 riders in Arryn colors poured from them. At their head was the Hand of the Queen, more amused than anything else by this brazen act. Camping an army outside the walls could be seen as a bellicose move, and if it was Lucian would bring the full weight of the Kingdom to bear against House Baratheon. As he approached the limits of the wall's range he called out. "What is the meaning of this?"

A small formation had been made when sentries reported the opening of the Kings Gate and a host being issued forth, heading in their direction. The colors of the Stormlands had been unveiled for this occasion. The formation parted as Lord Monfyrd Baratheon came out upon his horse to speak with the Hand of the Queen himself. His horse moved slowly towards the Lucian Arryn, but stayed near the makeshift fortifications of his camp within the Kingswood. Monfyrd remained silent for a moment before speaking to the Valeman.

The Baratheons have always served the Targaryens ever since Aegon the Dragon showed favor to his half-brother Orys by making him Lord Paramount of the Stormlands. We will always serve the Targaryens and always seek to render royal service, no matter who they are. I have come with an army to end these riots against the Victorious Queen and her children. After all, unlike everyone else who was bloodied and bent, I still have troops to spare.

"I'm not interested in a history lesson. You have arrived here unannounced and unsolicited. You are not the only person with troops to spare, perhaps just the only one without the sense to send the levies home." Lucian said dismissively. "The riots will be contained without a Baratheon army marauding through the streets. Send your troops home, Baratheon."

Monfyrd looks calmly upon the character of Lucian. His eyes would glance at the King's Landing, noticing the fires for now, before turning once more to the Valeman.

You call my army marauders when simply they wish to do their duty to the Iron Throne, just as we had done many times before that. I know that if I were in your position, you wouldn't want my army around because you don't want to be in debt to anyone. You don't want someone else to be the savior of King's Landing. You want everything to be within your fingers and to suddenly have a new party appear just ticks you off.

Lord Baratheon remains silent for but a moment before speaking further.

You can either accept my help and get these blasted riots over with, or you can risk everything you have gained simply because of your pride, Lucian. The choice is yours. Have an army readily desiring to do its duty for the Iron Throne or continue to let the city burn and have that fault on your shoulders for the rest of your life. Otherwise wait for your Black aligned supporters to raise their troops as the smoke clouds King's Landing.

Lucian pointed to himself. "I decide what your duty to the Throne is." He pointed back to the city "Opening the gates to an army would bring just as much death, destruction, and devestation you claim I will neglgiently bring upon the city. It is not my pride that guides my hand, but a sound grasp of the situation! We understand these rebels, their motives, they will be destroyed. The Goldcloaks are reinforced, my son rides a dragon, and the Kingsguard is being rebuilt. If you want to help, my lord, you will disperse your army and cease these threats. I will not, under any circumstances, open the gates to an army, not until the Red Keep itself is besieged".

Monfyrd looks upon Lucian Arryn and clicks his teeth slightly. He raises his hands and the sound of drums were being heard. Horses spurred to action and soldiers began to rise from their tents. The Baratheon gave Arryn a cold gaze.

When the city burns around you and smoke clouds your eyes, Lord Hand, do not think the Stormlands will come to your aid as willingly as we are now...

The Baratheon turns his horse sharply as the army begins to march its way home.

The man wants power. If the Greens had won it is likely he would have been given rank and title. I must be wary of this one. There were a flurry of political ramifications to consider, House Baratheon would have to be dealt with in some way or another, either by concessions or a firmer hand. For now the Hand simply turned his horse around and rode back through the gate.
