Icon1 [Citizen] Mausolos of Caria (Patron: Riverknight) [PASSED]

Patron's Paragraph It's my honur to present to you Mausolos of Caria I first met Mausolus with my work in the Scriptorium as his articles were the ones I most often put forth for entry into the Scriptorium. When his articles are put forth in the Scriptorium; it is not even a debate if it’s worthy of being added, with Mausolus’ writings it has always been a unanimous decision that they are allowed into the script; that’s just how good his work is. Besides his writing, he is also a tremendous asset to the mods he works on. Mausolus is an intelligent, caring person who I know will make a stellar addition to our ranks.

Applicant's Application I am much better at writing about history than doing such an application, but Riverknight was so kind to offer me to be my patron. Let me start with how I found my way to TWC at all. From early 2010 on I was regularly visiting the site, but like so many other people I was a long time lurker who never actually signed up for a good while. When RTR VII was released in autumn 2011 I finally decided to sign up to discuss the game and, to be honest, to ask for help with the script At the same time I also downloaded Stainless Steel 6 and began to try out various mods.
From that time on RTR cemented its place as my favourite mod and I became very active on their public forum. Not only did I win some precious friends in that time, I also started my series of small articles about the history of ancient Greek city states. Having initially covered the Hellenistic period, I also wrote about classical and archaic topics later on and my to-be patron Riverknight has added most of these essays to the Scriptorium, for which I am very honoured. Here are a few links to some examples:

Gelon, tyrant of Syracuse (in the Scriptorium)
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...use&highlight=

    My personal favourite about Arcadia:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...al-Greek-World

One of my first, and much shorter articles, about Hellenistic Crete:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ellenistic-age

And the latest addition about the history of Athens before the Peloponnesian War:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...oponnesian-War

Apart from writing these articles, I also eventually joined the RTR team for R2TR after being invited by my good friend Maurits. On there, I am still active to the present day. For most of the time I carried out research for factions, unit rosters, persons, startpos, battle mechanics and new ideas to improve gameplay. Besides, creating descriptions and texts for various previews was also among my tasks from the start on and still is. Recently, the veteran modder Finn stepped down from our team and transferred his moderator rights to me. Due to a period of prolonged inactivity of more experienced members, I have also done a lot of organisation recently. Here is our public forum for reference:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forum...-Total-Realism

In late 2013 ahowl11 restarted the RTR community for the first RTW by launching his own RTR Project. In about January 2014 I was invited to join as a historical advisor and as with R2TR I am still active on there. On RTRP my tasks were similar to those on R2TR, but I took part in even more discussions and along with the other main members I often gave advice to ahowl11 for many of the important decisions he had to make while developing the mod. After a while on exilian, he managed to move the developers forum to the old RTR forum here on TWC, where it's still very active now:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forum...velopers-Forum

While I shared research between both mods, I had to start from scratch when Phalangitis, whom I knew from R2TR, asked me to join his project Greeks at War. A total conversion of the Wrath of Sparta DLC for Rome II, it has already made great progress and was in a rather advanced stage when I joined. Since then I have mainly been writing unit descriptions and a faction preview for Athens, apart from giving historical advice and talking part in numerous discussions as always. The public forum of the mod can be seen here:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forum...-Greeks-at-War

My historical background text for the Athens faction preview can be found here, but it is very similar to the historical article from the College of History:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...henian-Preview

Last but not least I have also contributed (public) research for The Italian Wars, a mod for Medieval 2. Having posted a map in Italian earlier this year there, Neadal asked me to dig up information on the various Italian families and dynasties, during which I also used my rather mediocre knowledge of Italian. The mod forum can be seen here:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forum...e-Italian-Wars

Also I posted most of my research in this thread, I have also helped the mod with information about Mantua recently and still plan to add research about the Swiss states in the 15th century:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...s-with-regions

Obviously my posts on TWC have primarily been concerned with history, but I also check the forums every time a new game or DLC is being announced. Apart from there, I also check new mods from time to time, discuss on the Vestigia Vestuatis, talk about sports on the Universitas Ludus Olympus and take part in guessing games such as the famous Who am I? M2TW. I'd be very grateful to be accepted as a citizen and wish to stay on TWC for years to come

Mausolos has been incredibly helpful with his research for the Italian Wars and his efforts have in fact led to the introduction of several additional historical figures and adjustments of the map in the latest patch.
His articles on the notable families of renaissance Italy were truly outstanding contributions in quantity and quality.

Or so I thought until I now read some of his accounts on classical Greek history. It seems every single one of them cries "Citizenship". I know a silly guy who was made a citizen for less than 200 posts, but Mausolos would deserve the badge for less than 20 of his.

PS: Also, he has the Imperial emblem as his avatar, so we should not keep him from joining the dark side of TWC.
You know, Lord Vader Aikanár is watching you...

PPS: Good catch, Riverknight. ... Oh, shouldn't say that to a trout bass perhaps...

Great contributions from what I've seen. AS I'm not very good in histiry, I cannot say how relevant they are, but it looks well documentated

Looks promising after reading couple of provided links. Also a Local Moderator here on TWC.
American, French, Israeli and British government's ILLEGAL aggression against the Syrian people, without any proof for chemical attacks in Douma, and without waiting for OPCW to conduct their investigation..
Sons of *******, leave that poor, war torn country in peace.
If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.
Let Syria be finally in peace.

Some quality posts there, I'm no historian so I can't judge the veracity but I'm guessing if they were stuff and nonsense they wouldn't make it to the script. The modding work I'm guessing is largely in dev forums but RTR have always had high standards so I'm happy to go with reputation on that one, with the endorsement from Iskar and Riverknight is a stand up guy....

Doesn't look a lot but there is enough for me..

    A'yup.

Been of fan of his articles on ancient Greece for a while now, they're always well written and seem to be very well researched so I quite enjoy them. The modding work just adds even more to that, with quite a bit of researching for a number of mods, so I'd definitely go with a yes here.

Just like Halie said, yes most Mausolos works are in dev forums. I would say 90% of the historical research for the mod that I am making right now came through him (10% from me watching HBO Rome ).

So yes. Mausolos should no longer stay in the auxiliary cohorts. He should become a citizen so that he can rightly have his spot in the legions.
