    Default Funeral for Jason Lannister

Death was nothing new for the Westerlands nor the Lords that ruled in it. Jason Lannister had passed and Tyrek Lannister succeeded him. The events in this thread take place after the funeral procession at the great table of Casterly Rock where the Lords of the Westerlands sit after being summoned for their late liege Lords funeral.

Tyrek Lannister sat with his siblings (Tyren and Myrcella) to his left and waited for the arrival of the Lords and Ladies of the Westerlands.

Leofric Clegane arrived, sporting a new set of armour. The war had allowed him some small amount of personal gain, even if both the men he now served were dead. He would need to seek additional employment, again, it seemed. His massive mastiff, aptly named "Dog" traveled with him, as always. He stood by, stoic. He had thought the late Lord Lannister a rather foolhardy person. He had been sent on a fool's errand when he could have been pillaging more. He took a goblet of wine from a passing tray, his huge hands making the glass seem tiny in comparison.

Tyrek nodded at Leofric Clegane and gestured for a serving girl to show him a seat. The seat shown was the second chair to his right, the one to his immediate right had been saved for Lord Reyne as a symbol of respect and peace. Welcome to the hall of my forefathers Clegane. How does this post war Westeros find you? Tyrek asked simply.
When he did not need to be long winded he wouldn't be, and Leofric was not a man meant to sit through a monologue of noble pomp. Tyren did not look up from the table, nor did Myrcella. He was a large man and had an air about him that made the children wary.

Clegane dropped his helmet on the table with a clang and sat down heavily, smoothing his long hair out of his way. "It is ing boring, mi'lord." He said in a deep, raspy voice. "Not for me to do now except sell my sword to whoever wants it." He didn't have any status in the Westerlands beyond his association with its nobility.

My father never knew how to make use of a good warrior. Or anything good at all actually.
Stay in Casterly Rock following this meeting for a small while. We can discuss ways to keep things interesting for you. That sword of yours has a place in my service. It need not be sold elsewhere. I assure you we can find something to your liking.
Tyrek took a small swig from his goblet. It was merely water but the appearance had to be kept even if he did not care if others knew it was just that. His mind moved to through the files of options in ways a man like Leofric Clegane could be of use.

OOC- not to perpetuate a tenuous situation, but is Velasco considered awol as a whole? He apparently has a Lannister registered at Riversprings and I intend to make use of it soon.

Clegane gave a grunt. "Good then, it will save me the journey." Even he knew he couldn't go back to the Riverlands, not after what he did.

OOC: The Reyne army and navy is going to be standing down when it arrives, but to keep up appearances with my character's life, it is still up and will arrive tomorrow. However posting arrival now because I don't want to wait a day. This is not an attack!

IC: It was high noon and easily seen, first a couple men came over the hill and stood still, then more men came to join them. When there was about a hundred men a soft horn call could be heard and a giant rush of men coming over the hill until it numbered a thousand several times over, lead by a large banner.Even from the walls of Casterly Rock and Lannisport, the banner could be made out. A red lion on a white field, the Reyne's had come. Soon after a great navy sailed into the Bay of Lannisport, numbering almost 250 ships. The army began to surround the Lannisport and Casterly Rock, while the navy begins to cut off all entry and escape from the bay.

Several hours later when the encirclement had finally completed, a force of cavalry rides down the hill and approaches the castle and city until they arrive just out of the range of a bow. When they have organized into a formation, a horn is sounded and the Reyne and a peace banner are unfurled, flapping in the wind.

Tyrek asked for Cleganes accompaniment to the walls, rose and began to make his way to the walls. On the way he gave a senior Captain the nod to begin mustering the militia and all other troops within the walls. Peace banner or not he refused to sit on his hands and allow himself to be kept with his pants around his ankles without so much as standing from the commode. He stands near the entry-way to the Rock, gate raised only enough for himself and Clegane (if he chose to join) to fit. He shouted loud so that all may hear, House Reyne was invited along with the rest of the Westerlands in peace to my fathers funeral. A seat was saved to my right especially for Lord Reynes presence and instead I get an army of MY OWN MEN at my door. Some said my father acted out of proportion. But now I ask myself, did he? If this is how you comport yourself in peace at a FUNERAL. Come speak with me Lord Reyne, as Lords do. I am not your enemy.

Where's the invitation then? I haven't been in the Westerlands for two years now. Last I was aware, Lord Jason Lannister was alive and well, taking then burning my home after giving up on King Aegon's heirs. I was at Riverrun when I heard the news of Castamere being taken and the surrender. I then went to King's Landing to swear fealty to Queen Rhaenyra, discovering that the now late Lord Lannister had not arrived. Now I hear he's dead which explains why he couldn't come. He turns to one of his soldiers, who then rides off back to the army with several other men, riding off to reach each of the main camps. "I have told my men to stand down and march back to their homes. They should be gone within an hour or two." He then yells for several knights to take the cavalry back to the army, then lead them home. When they leave, Damion is left with his son and his guard. "Sorry about that, I will also need to send a message to the admiral of the navy, so that he leaves as well."

It was an impressive show of force Lord Reyne but I would have you know, I am not my father. Under the circumstances One could understand your actions given those of my father. Tyrek stood motionless against the wind, against the emotions, and against the tension. He made a mental note to clarify their....relationship....but this was not the time or place.

We will go to the aviary right away and tend to your letter, then back to the great hall. I must have missed you at Kings Landing, I have only just arrived from there myself.

Working their way through the dispersing army of Lord Reyne came the party of House Lefford. At the head rode Raymar and Godric, Harmund's two sons, in command of the escort.

In the midst of the knights trundled along a carriage, in which the elderly Lord Harmund Lefford was travelling. It was quite large, requiring six large horses at the front to pull along, as if the Lord of Goldentooth was to travel, he would travel in warmth and comfort.

The party reached the Rock itself and were granted entry after identifying themselves to the guards. Harmund's entry to the great hall was announced by the rhythmic clacking of his walking cane against the stone floor, echoing down the corridor and into the hall itself. Eventually the six-strong party of Leffords appeared: Lord Harmund himself, with his two sons Raymar and Godric, and his daughter Kyra. Raymar's two sons, Donnel and Ryon, attended also. Kyra was of age with Donnel and Ryon, the two boys having long come to appreciate the oddness of having an aunt the same age as they were.

[OOC: Ponti, I never got round to resolving that raid since I went awol while it was in progress. You can claim all that money if you want it, I'd like to assume that Clegane performed admirably and effectively and was rewarded as a result if you're ok with that being made the 'canon' outcome. You also proposed Leofric got into difficulty mid-battle and was helped out by Raymar at the time, but we never RP'd that, if you'd like that to still stand as well.]

Lord Harmund was accepted into the Hall gladly, and with Tyrek being with Lord Reyne, by Tyren Lannister. Tyren had seen sixteen name-days and was an apt young man but he was still young. His youth revealed in his voice and near flawless skin, but he spoke well even for his age, Lord Lefford! A seat has been saved for you next to me. My brother has long awaited your audience. It has been a busy time for us. My brother seeks to right the mistakes of my father and that begins here, today.
Tyren glazed over the other Leffords to familiarize himself with their faces and then realized, I am Tyren Lannister, the lesser known I'm afraid. I hope your family enjoys their time in Casterly Rock. And if there is anything I can do to help say the word. Tyren was much more lighthearted than his older brother but few could say he was a foolish boy. His smiles and laughs came easier but at little expense to his duty.

Leofric kept his hand on the pommel of his sword as he emerged form the gate with Tyrek. He was thankful when the tension died down. Fighting fair was one thing, but outnumbered 12 to 1 might have been a surefire unfortunate outcome. Once the tension had dissolved Clegane lumbered back into the hall, removed his helmet again, and continued drinking next to the other lords. For now he just listened.

Harmund had seen over seventy years in his long life, even his grandchildren were older than the boy who greeted him. Still, this was House Lannister now, and it was for the best. Lord Jason was tyrannical, and the absence of any representatives of House Crakehall was most visible: after Lord Jason's treatment of them young Tyrek would have to work hard to mend relations with his southern vassal.

"Thank you, my boy," said Harmund, offering a smile and beginning the journey over to his seat; his ankles were already signaling their weariness after the very long walk through the vast fortress of the Rock, "Your brother has a noble, if steep, goal. Lord Jason was sadly a harsh man, better at earning the enmity of men than their respect, and the timidity of the Westerlands in the war has harmed our reputation abroad. Your brother must show himself to be a man of decisive, but fair, action during his reign."

Many boats had been missed already: the Westerlands had no presence in King's Landing, though that city appeared on the brink of civil war itself if the tales were to be believed; the Rock stood isolated in the Realm, with the victorious (if unsteady) coalition of the Blacks presenting a mutually supportive front; and the lack of any great victories beyond repulsing the Vale at Nunn's Deep left the Westerlands poorly regarded among the other Kingdoms. Tyrek had a mountain to climb, but was blessed with many who might help him climb it.

OOC- damnit lost the post, short and sweet now

My father was a lot of things, and his counsel worse. Their influence has been weeded out however...He plans on marrying me to a Westerlands house to keep bonds strong here. If you know of anyone interested please tell. I am young but smart, kind, and loyal.
Tyren sounded of sadness when speaking about his father.

Clegane was becoming a bit drunk at this point, having consumed several tankards of ale. Spotting Lefford colors seemed to spark some sentimentality in him, how rare. "We sure did those fish up, didn't we?" He said pointing to Harmund, who he had clearly mistaken for one of his sons. "They won't soon forget that reaving, hah!" His face was red "A shame we can't go back."

"Of course Lord Lannister let us leave immediately." When they arrive, Damion writes a quick note which he shows to Tyrek before applying his seal to it and sending a raven off. "It'll take a while for the news to get around, but the fleet should be gone by nightfall." He pauses for a minute, as if thinking of something of importance, then asked "What did your father die of?

Tyrek nodded when he verifies the letter and turns to walk away after Reyne details their likely departure by nightfall. He hears the question of his father and it stops him in his tracks. He takes a moment to consider the question and then says gruffly, We have a dinner to get to Lord Reyne. The other Lords are waiting and it would not do as a host to keep them their.
Tyrek kept walking after that, expecting hims to continue following. By the time he arrived back at the Hall all the other Lords that would arrive had and he spoke loudly as he moved to his seat.
Good evening Gentlemen. Lords of the Westerlands I thank you for joining me on this day. It was not the occasion I would have preferred but it happens to be this one so I must make it a productive one. For those of you that have not had eyes on me in some time, I am Tyrek Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock and the Westerlands. I would like to start off by saying this. I am not my father and I will NOT apologize for his actions. I am an honorable man and I will make things right where there is cause to. Many of you were trusted and held in high regard of my father. It is my hope that you will be as loyal to me as you were to him. With that being said, the large man to the right of Lord Reyne is Leofric Clegane. Some of you don't know his face but his name should be well known enough.
He sat down and leaned back in his large chair. He figured now was as good a time as any. My father died of the same issue that led to the demise of thousands during the war, bad judgement. On the topic of bad judgement, there are too many theories and too much in the way of speculation, about what in the seven HELLS went wrong in the Westerlands. So I ask you directly my Lords, why did we end up at, and then late to the Battle at Riverrun?

Damion looked at Tyrek curiously at the new Lord Paramount avoided his question. "As you wish Lord Lannister, let us make haste."

"A result of poor communication with the Stormlander host and caution. My scouts told me that there had been a host at Pinkmaiden, but the road to Riverrun was open, so I moved cautiously and camped near the Stoney Sept, then began making my way to Riverrun. When I arrived, the crows were still feasting on the Stormlander fallen."

Tyrek loathed the hiccup. Regardless the reason, that blunder seemed to set off a series of events that made them all look incompetent and House Lannister a mockery. He sipped from his cup of water and tapped the table. He looked to his right and asked, Lord Reyne, my father seemed to be of the opinion you were directly disobeying his orders and intents. Do you know why? Did you disobey a command, or is that something that at least may have been perceived? I merely seek to understand it all.
