Default A few questions regarding 2.0 update

Hey guys ! I've made a small research about the intel i'm after, but couldn't find anything, hence the thread. If I've just skipped this, I apologize in advance. Here it goes :

    1) First and foremost, do you guys make a difference between eastern and western germans, if any ? If yes, should the two rosters update come out in two separate updates ?

    2) Is compatibility with The Last Roman a feature planned for this patch, or for later ? Vanilla gameplay and balance just isn't to my liking anymore. Not after playing Fall of the Eagles for so long, especially switching from FotE's awesome roman roster to vanilla's astonishingly poor-looking one.

    3) Regardless of the release date to a compatibility patch between FotE and The Last Roman, do you plan on changing the rosters of factions present both in grand campaign and The Last Roman ? In other words, will Ostrogoths and the Ostrogothics Kingdom share the same roster ? same goes for every faction, Roman Expedition included.

And that's pretty much it. You boys have been working hard on this, and so far the result has been astonishing. Thanks again for sharing this all with us. Keep up the good work !

Thanks for all the kind words! Here are the answers to your questions:

    1) Yes, there will be two different rosters for the east germans and west germans. Ahiga's the expert on it but afaik they will be largely different but with many overlapping units too. Eastern germans will have better cavalry while the western germans will have better infantry for example.

    2) Not at this time no. And it probably won't be for a long time, unfortunately. We want to make sure the full main campaign is as good as we can make it before we get around to fiddling with any of the additional campaigns.

    3) Pretty much the same as nr 2. We're not doing any conscious work on TLR, but some of the changes might carry over on their own.

Thanks for your quick answer ! Although it means for me The Last Roman's gonna get aside for a moment, until FotE's team saves the day once more, I definitely won't be the one pushing you with this. Focusing on the grand campaign is an understandable and reasonable policy both, as well as one that's been working so far. Imho, those points still deserved some precisions, which you clearly provided.

Can't wait to get my hands on those germans, they look so wonderfull. Finally we're gonna be able to enjoy a proper germanic campaign experience !

To clarify further on #1 though Maximus has the jist of it:

-There are cosmetic differences between the majority of West (Franks, Alamanni, Langobardi and unplayables) and East (Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Vandals, Burgundii and unplayables) Germans. Sarmatians are a mix of East Germans and unique Sarmatian units.

It's more noticable on the earlier tiers than the later. For an example while these are two different unit types ignoring the weapon type this is how

    Freemen of the East Germans

and Freemen of the West Germans

generally look. East Germans have more furs, leathers and hides, West Germans have more stripes.

-There are stat differences between West and East German infantry of the line and cavalry. They are not planned to be so substantial that it's like comparing apples and oranges but rather to give a slight edge to one or the other. West German infantry are the only Germans who have franscisas and angons (pilum like heavy javelins), and have +1 to +5 more moral, defensive skill, offensive skill, bonus hp, ect. Conversely East German cavalry will have +1 to +5 in certain stats vis-a-vis West German cavalry. They will probably have (with exception of the Franks' unique cavalry) noticably higher charge ratings beyond a small margin (maybe +10-30 instead of +1 to +5) and perhaps +10 to +20 more men.

There's also of course unique units to further distinguish them.
