CTD on save or autosave - Need help!

Please help me - I'm going crazy here!!!

I'm finding that the game is often crashing to desktop about 20% of the time that a save is made. It either happens when I press ctrl+S (to quicksave) or when I click to finish my go (autosave) or when I've just finished a battle (autosave). It even happens if I save the game from the game menu.

The thing that's really annoying me is that THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT USED TO HAPPEN ALL THE TIME WITH RTW!!!

Does anyone know what is causing this and what I can do about it?

FYI I have updated my graphics and sound drivers and I'm running the latest version of directX.
