Helping Allies Out
Just a quick question about how feasible it would be to improve your allies?
I've been thinking of possibilities on how to do this in game;
1 - Research Buildings; have those allies who are at least defensive allies and have a trade alliance with you benefit from 1/3 the Research bonus. I.e a building provides +10 Research, to allies who meet the conditions, they get +5 Research.
2 - Trade hub buildings; higher level trade hubs increase factions (with a trade agreement near to said settlement) trade tariffs
3 - Military Donation; as an edict for a governer, perhaps you could donate some money to nearby allied settlements; granting them some nearby medium level garrison units (i.e, not poor, but not elite garrison level either). Perhaps link into a trait, where improving it costs you more money, but grants your allied settlements more units. These units are coded to be free, as such to the allied coffers/food supply.
In return for things such as this, you get improved relationships; perhaps +2 for those factions you're allied with, and +1 for those you're not, allied with (provided they are not at war with the factions you're supported). Is this a possibility?

Re: Helping Allies Out
Most of the mechanics related to the treaties are hardcoded, unfortunately. I mention this briefly in another thread, but we hope to create some new ways to show differences in treaties that existed in the ancient world that go a bit beyond the ones in game, but they will all require conquest still.
There may be some things possible through scripts, but they would be fairly advanced and no mod I'm aware of has done anything related to this. So I don't think it would be easy even if possible. Scripts aren't my area of specialty.
