Launching CTD

I'm not entirely sure if this has been addressed and settled in a different thread, but here is my problem.

I followed the instructions to install SS6.3 and then SS6.4 using torrent downloads, eventually transferring them to the mods folder of my steam MTW2 copy.
Yet everytime I attempt to launch the mod from the SS launcher or SS Setup, I get to the Stainless Steel mod launch screen but it nigh instantly CTDs to my desktop as if I had never launched it at all.
I do have a kingdoms.exe file in the MTW2 folder itself, so this is not the problem. I also seem to have this problem with other MTW2 mods (haven't tried it with other games yet) but with the one mod I tried, I could at least get to the campaign selection screen past the main menu. With Stainless Steel, I can't even reach the main menu.
Someone suggested that I do right click MTW2 in the steam library and reach "properties" where I would then select launch options and put this in --features.mod=mods/SS6.3 Apparently this was supposed to work with any mod but it seems it isn't the case for me.

Anyone have a thought or idea to fix this, possibly a link to a thread where this problem has been solved?

Didn't realize there was a subforum for CTD related threads, if a mod could move this over there that would be nice.
