TATW crashes by launch!!

Hello,

when I load up medieval 2 total war through steam the game starts and immediately crashes with an unspecified error. I am using windows 8 and I have replaced the teutonic campaign by the third age total war mod and named it teutonic. when I launch it though it immediatly crashes...
I have downloaded patch 3.0 part 1 of 2 and installed it, I have downloaded 3.0 part 2 of 2 and patch 3.2 as well. Unfortunately the files 3.0 part 2 of 2 and the patch 3.2 dont give me the option to install...
Should I redownload both files again? Or is there a simple solution I dont know?

Did you use Internet Explorer to download these files? Is your M2TW updated to the latest version which came out few months ago? The one regarding Multiplayer?

I do indeed have the latest version of medieval 2 total war. But I used internet explorer for the downloads, Is this a bad thing for the files?
which internet engine should I use for the downloads then?

I would suggest Mozilla Firefox for downloading files in the future.. There are three possible solutions for this issue:

1) Reset Internet Explorer settings: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/923737

2) Use this "Fix it myself method" to restore exe file association: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...xItForMeAlways

3) Re download files by using Mozzila Firefox, Chrome, Opera.

I think I will use Google Chrome for the redownloads or maybe Mozilla Firefox.

When you redownload, use these steps to install TATW 3.0 both parts+TATW 3.2 Patch: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...1#post14422184

If you plan on playing vanilla TATW only without any submods, then install this bugfix as well: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p39pwsf0gk...Files.rar?dl=0

Download, extract them somewhere and follow the instructions in Readme file. It is just copy/paste method.

When I install 3.0 part 2 in the folder part 1 created (Third_Age_3) it created a submap mods and in it a map called aswell Third_Age_3 do I have to cut it and paste it in the original Third_age_3? that way I have Third_Age_3>Third_Age_3/data/preferences

It helped . Now I have to install 3.0 part 1 in steam/steamapps/common/medieval2totalwar/mods right? and 3.0 part 2 in the folder part 1 created? Where do i install patch 3.2 then? also in the Third Age map?

You screwed up installation.. All TATW.exe installers have to have your Steam/...../ Medieval II Total War as a destination path, so not Steam/...../ Medieval II Total War/mods, nor is it Steam/...../ Medieval II Total War/mods/Third_Age_3.

I would suggest to delete that Third_Age_3 folder, and reinstall, cause, there is one file which needs to go into your main Medieval II Total War/ data folder, and who knows where that one ended up. This way, everything should be installed correctly and in its place.

It works !!!. I want to instal the submod MOS aswell do I install that one also in the medieval2 total war folder?

MOS 1.7 files are in a compressed format ( .rar or .zip format). You need to extract them in your Steam/..../ Medieval II Total War/ mods folder. Be sure to overwrite all files and folders when asked.

Also, before installing MOS or any other submod, I would suggest to make a backup of whole Third_Age_3 folder somewhere ( just not in your M2TW folder). That way you can just copy/ paste it back in case you want some extra submod installed, or if you screw up some installation.

xD I ment that I already have downloaded MOS 1.5/1.6 (patch for 1.5)/and patch 1.6.1 for patch 1.6. Where do I install the submods on my pc to make it run in TATW? I cant find MOS 1.7 , is it released yet?

Sorry, haven`t been around lately..

If you want to install MOS 1.7 ( which is the latest version) then you do not need any other previous version, you just need to download MOS 1.7 ( plus bugfixes of course). As I already said in my previous post, you can click on MOS in my signature to go to their thread, or, if you do not see it, then here is the link to their thread where the links for MOS 1.7 are located. MOS 1.7 files need to be extracted to your Medieval II Total War/ mods folder ( so, not Medieval II Total War/ mods/Third_Age_3, or anything else, it has to be your Medieval II Total War/ mods ). Overwrite all files and folders when asked.
