With the outbreak of the war and after Lady Augusta's and Prince Daemon's departure, Lady Shae Tully had requested the audience of several participants in the search of Ser Benjen Tully,
a man who was exiled by his own father as he ashamed his family by bedding the daughter of House Butterwell upon her marriage with another House at the same day, claiming that it was her, who seduced him and not vice versa.
In the end it was better for him to leave, as he slept in the same night Lord Edric within his chamber and escaped barely the dungeons of Riverrun, if it was not for a few golden coins, some contacts upon a certain kind of women and a few ropes, who were found the next morning hanged upon several wall sections by the guardsmen in light of the sun.
Yet, however, the story is older than 5 years, the daughter already haveing herself choked to death on a piece of pie and it was written in Lord Edric's last will, that he wishes to request Ser Benjen back to court. According to rumors, the once shining knight of the Riverlands and gentleman has traveled with various sellsword companies over the Free Cities, recently being kicked out from the Blood Tongues nearby Norvos. Thus it made the search harder for the knights, being sent out by the Lady to find the lost son of Riverrun, as the latest trail of the knight brought them to Qohor.
Various men on their way claimed that Benjen intended several things, among them the search for a Mudd or even a Valyrian sword within the jungles of Qohor. Whether of those stories was true, was hard to tell. In the end, however, it took those, who were sent out to seek him months to actually find him. And even now, when they rode up the Qhoyne, it seemed as if their task was impossible.
"A whole month gone and still no trail upon this cursed monkey!", Ser Edd Lychester, a tall, blonde man of around 30 years sweared at the end of the small caravan, the heat of the Qohorish jungle driving him already mad, "Is he even worth it to assume, that he is still alive and not eaten by the Black Goat?"
"D-Do not sp-speak upon Ser Benjen li-like this, Arthur", Ser Ferdinand Butterwell, a fat, young and sadly stuttering man replied as the second knight within the party, "I- I otherw-wise would ch-ch-challenge you fo-for your lack of re-respect in front of your o-o-o-overlord!"
Tall Edd only laughed mocking upon those words. He never took Butterwell seriously, even though he was the heir of Whitewall, the seat of the noble House he derrived from. Even now he wondered how this mockery of a knight was still able to keep his figure in the most prominent way.
"Well, well, well, do not frighten me, Ser", he chuckled with a sadistic grin, "Of course, I would not speak that badly of him. It's not like that Ser Butter
er could have made it easier for us. This is ridiculous."
Infuriated as always the second knight began to show his hatred for the Lychester man again.
"Do-do-do not mo-mock my... my House for th-thi-this, E-Edd!", he began, but was always cut by Tall Edd, who found again slight joy in angering his comrade.
"Oh right, of course, I nearly forgot!", he replied with a big grin, as if he wanted to apologize, "Where are my manners, Stutterbutt?"
The blade was quicker drawn as Edd would have expected it this time from the Butter Knight, but before the two were able to duel themselves on horse, the third member of the party decided to intervene.
"Enough of this", Ser Winston Shawney, an elderly knight with the beard of a walrus, replied stern, "If I hear anymore complains or bickering, I will personally cut out your tounge for rebellion upon this mission. We will not find Ser Benjen that easily with you two as my personal anchors."
Both of the men became quiet, as they respected Old Shawney, an uncle of the current Lord Shawney. It is rumored that he fought along with Prince Daemon's forces at the Stepstones and even survived the massacre, which the Triarchy and Dorne unfolded upon the Rouge Prince's men, being one of the few men, who could report alive at Bloodstone, what has happened. In either way none of them was thrilled to face the old knight in battle, not even Tall Edd, who had fought victorious in a few tournaments upon the Riverlands against local knights.
Silently they continiued their journey until they bypassed a crossroad, one leading into the assumed direction of Qohor, while another one leading to the city went past the rivershore.
The knights remained, unsure where to move next as even Old Shawney had to reconsider his vague knowledge from the maps he had seen upon Essos. Each way seemed to be promising - but on each end could await them smaller to larger dangers.
OOC: A volunteerly RP for people, who wish to RP as a hedgeknight or an NPC from the Riverlands like a knight or a page.
Especially players from existing Houses are invited, but should be reminded that this RP is takeing place within the deepest parts of Essos - we know nothing upon the current situation on the mainland and last thing we expired was that the wars between Greens and Blacks started, as we sailed from Maidenpool to Pentos.
There won't be most likely any donation, just finding an exiled Tully. But maybe it benefits the existing Houses.
I will see if this will find any interests - if not I will do it just on the solo approach, telling Benjen's story and journey home.
