Default The Green Council and the Regents of Jaehaerys Targaryen

With the death of Aegon II and the defeat at King's Landing as well as the loss of the capital, the Greens headquarters is relocated to the southern Reach at the city of Oldtown where the children of the late King are removed to. With the arrival of Jaehaerys and his siblings, members and followers of the Greens begin to form a new council of regents and lords who would effectively run the daily military and political duties in light of the minority of Jaehaerys Targaryen. A Lord Protector was to be named along with seven council members, in order to represent the Seven Gods of the Faith.

The Council of the Seven Regents

Lord Protector of the Realm: Vacant
Lord Regent: Ser Criston Cole of the Green's Kingsguard
Lord Regent: Lord Tristian Hightower of Oldtown
Lord Regent: Lady Helaena Targaryen (absent)
Lord Regent: Lord Michael Baratheon of the Stormlands (absent)
Lord Regent: Ser Tyland Lannister of the Westerlands (representative of Lord Jason Lannister)
Lord Regent: Ser Aemond Targaryen, the One-Eyed
    Lord Regent: Vacant

    Also Present:
    - Queen Dowager Alicent Hightower
    - Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen (6)
    - Princess Jaehaera Targaryen (6)
    - Prince Maelor Targaryen (2)
    - Ser Jon Buckler
    - Ser Gyles Buckler

Despite his age, Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen, or rather King Jaehaerys II, is brought to sit at the council with Ser Jon Buckler and Ser Gyles Belgrave as his attendants. Jaehaera and her little brother, Maelor, are kept in a room that is connected to the regent's makeshift council chambers that were set up in the Hightower per approval of Lord Hightower.

The current issues that the regents need to address is shoring up support, appointing the Seventh Regent and the Lord Protector of the Realm (as well as the replacement regent for when a Lord Protector is named) and to decide on their next move with the loss of the capital and Aegon II.

Upon the appointed day, Ser Buckler calls forth for the regents to join in the meeting hall in Hightower for the first session of the Regency of Jaehaerys, the Second of His Name.

A rather worn looking Prince Aemond enters in full armour, with his greatsword slung over his back, and his helmet held under his arm. A scowl was etched onto his face, and he had grown more melancholy after seeing one brother die then hearing of the other. Silently, he moved through the great hall, before stopping suddenly. Rigid, he stood, observing his surroundings. He still wore his eyepatch, but he held his sapphire in the palm of his mailed hand, running his fingers across the smooth surface as he stared aimlessly into space.

Ser Criston Cole had recovered from his foray at Kingslanding, discarding the gold as soon as he heard of the capital's fall. The men had proved themselves to be less than adequate for their duty. A duty he himself was more than capable of. So the white returned to its supremacy upon his back, a surcoat displaying House Cole replacing the dragons. The previous heraldy was both obsolete and cut apart by a dozen blade-strokes.

    -------

Lady Alla arrived, flanked by a dozen retainers. The party was small to avoid detection, as well as to give her father as many men as possible for the fighting to come. With the losses at the capital city, he would ever blade. She looked around at all those in attendance, giving a slight bow to the King and his grandmother. She would represent Highgarden more than the Reach, yet they needed her as much as she did they. I am one of them now, for better or worse.

Cole. Aemond growled at the Kingsguard Knight, suddenly noticing his presence.

    What... Happened?
Struggling to say what he wished, Aemond narrowed his good eye. All he had heard was that Sunfyre had been torn to shreds by Caraxes, and that Aegon had fallen. Now, the Capital had surrendered, and they were on the back foot.

"It was Daemon and his cursed Blood Wyrm. I did not see it until the end, and by then it was too late. The men lost faith, seeing their great monarch fall."

Criston shook his head in anger.

"How was I supposed to sacrifice my life for his when he was dancing in the clouds? He should not have had to confront that b------ Daemon alone."

Aemond grunted, shaking his head in turn, before looking at the floor.

I should have been there. I should have split the Rogue Prince from groin to gullet.

Cursing in anger under his breath, Aemond looked back up at Cole.

Instead, I was sent to fetch another brother who died in turn.
Such is the curse of the Kinslayer. A voice at the back of his mind said, and his good eye twitched.

I am the last of Viserys' sons. I shall take Daemon's head, or I shall die in the attempt.
He spat venomously, unsure of if he was swearing this to Cole or himself. Guilt weighed heavily on him, and it had made him crueller and harder.

"And leave the rest of us for dead?" Tyland asked bluntly. "My brother writes that he suspects the Blacks will invade and since the capital is lost to us its doubtless that either the Reach or Stormlands will suffer a similar visit soon enough. We're losing. If we're fighting for Revenge the Westerlands will have no part. We need to fight to win this war or not at all." Some would call it craven but it seemed that their allies were incapable of winning battles unless they had everything in their favour and Jason would likely prove little better.

Alester Grimm entered and bowed deeply to his King and the other men of import present. Most were of much nobler blood than Alester's. Still, he entered with pride and his at his side looking as his name described for him. He sat among the Lord's and sat quietly. His eyes darted around the room for a moment, then he rested them, listening to the voices and conversations swirling about him. Of the men their he had only met Lord Hightower, briefly and many years ago. He was a stranger to most yet a staunch supporter in his own right. As that same thought crossed him, Alester could not help but grin...Funny thing that is.

Ser Tyland, you must understand that Prince Aemond has lost his elder brother. Of course he wants revenge upon the man who slew him. Let the Prince speak as he wishes.

Ser Buckler was the one who spoke up this time as he looked at the pair.

Our focus is to win this war and restore Jaehaerys to his rightful place. Prince Aemond will get his revenge while performing his duty to our cause.

What? Aemond turned on the Lannister violently, anger in his voice.
I have lost two brothers to these traitors, Lannister.
Almost going on further, Aemond's temper simmered slightly. Thanks to Buckler's timely intervention, he was able to cool off.
I will not leave, if that is what you are suggesting. But we must move quickly. I will go wherever my king needs me.

"Good. I believe your King needs you winning battles not killing one man perhaps dying in the attempt. They have more men than us and are riding high with victory. We need to start inflicting defeats. Dragons do not come into it truly."

We have the upper hand with dragons, for now.
He said, as he paced around the great hall.
The only threatening dragon they have left is Daemon's wyrm, Caraxes.
But they have more men. He said, resigned, after a slight pause. And ours are all cut off from each other.

Tyland gave a slight nod but focussed on the Prince who's words truly mattered...mayhaps or his deeds would prove different.

"We need to secure the Reach and defend the Stormlands. Delay the enemy with sieges and grind them to nothing in smaller battles." Tyland reasoned.

Gentlemen, seems to me we have underestimated our enemy. We need a strategy to claim this victory, not just sheer force. Alester turned to Aemond, the anger in him was dangerous and if not controlled it would lead to the demise of many. Many Green supporters at that. Lord Aemond, we have all lost brothers. In my battles with the Ironborn I have seen two brothers cut down. Patience can be a weapon too. If you wait for the proper moment we shall have both victory and revenge. I am not asking you not to be angry, you have the right. Channel it the right way, at the right times, and I believe we shall be victorious. The wrong way and everyone here dies. Avenge their deaths, but the opportunity should be right.
Alester sat back and quieted again waiting for responses. He expected to be ignored, but that was the place of a lesser Lord

Aemond laid down his helmet on one of the chairs, but remained standing. He held his sapphire in one hand, running his fingers over the well carved gemstone.
Looking towards Lord Grimm, his eyes hardened.

You speak wise words, Lord Grimm. He replied, But it is the enemy that now has time on their side. They hold the Throne, and more soldiers from the North and Riverlands bolster their forces each passing day.
Pausing, he looked towards the Lannister, but his gaze did not soften.
I agree with Lord Tyland. Tarly is on the doorstep of Oldtown, separating us from any allies we might have. Until we crush him, we are like caged rats, cut off from the West and the Stormlands.

OOC- maybe not, there is still some surprise attack stuff that may turn the tide on that fight maybe not largely but enough.

"Tarly is of no great concern." said the somber looking Lord Tristian Hightower as he entered the meeting room and took his seat. Although saddened by the death of his brother, the Lord knew that he greater issues to worry about. "Oldtown is well defended by our City Watch, a sellsword company, and my own personal garrison along with any survivors that remain from our army. Tarly cannot take up on and he knows it. Furthermore, with the Hightower Fleet and that of our Redwyne kin, the city will not fall to a siege anytime soon as we will be well supplied here. Your focus in this war should be marshaling your armies again to march northwards launch a counterattack."

"And leave an enemy to our rear? No we need a victory to shore up waverers and we need the Reach secure. Your seat being safe from harm is a blessing but not a victory nor an assurance that Tarly will not raise hell against us at the first chance."
