WTF!? Where did you find that first screenshot? Where did that steam tank come from? Haven't seen that one before, and that's awesome.

    Anyway, cool.

Ugh, that overused Lorde cover. I wish I could enjoy that trailer but I can not stand that cover. It's used every where and it isn't even a good one, hate hearing it more then it needs to be. And the trailer neglects everything before Empire so screw that CA, real nice way to pay respects to the games that help start of your company.

Is meant to be a cool cinematic trailers. Anything pre-Empire looks really dated nowdays, it's not something you want to show to the people at E3 to be honest.

And in all honesty, who cares, I just skipped the entire trailer up to the Warhammer bit.

As if Total War fans care if something looks dated or not, and Empire itself is starting to look dated so I really do not see the point. But then again, my biggest grip is that overrated cover.

It's concept art for Total War: Warhammer.

    It's a recent screenshot shown during E3.

    Nice finds.

At least there is a confirmation that double-coloured clothing is in (although in the other hand it hints at that the one-color theme not being a faction-specific pattern, but the dominant one):

I have to say, the models look better in game. The faces are definately a huge improvement after Rome 2. It's a very cinematic, scripted sequence, but if the animations look anything like that in-game, it's a good sign. Morrions pretty much confirmed as imperial helmets and not a as a mercenary Estalian, though. I really like how the guy without the helmet looks. The the textures look different here as well, more cartoony if you wish, might be a motion-blur thing, might be video editing, but looks better, more fitting for Warhammer.

About the artwork in the op, that does look like Warhammer, and (save for Karl Franz) looks nothing like what they've shown us, which makes me think that we've seen only low-tier units and that, most likely, the mid/high tier units will look more Warhammery (more fluffy clothing, more over-the-top armor and, most importantly, better hats and beards ). The fluffy pants of the greatswords (in the background) look as weird as in the screenshots, though.

Can't wait to see Teutogen guards, I also hope knights are decent at fighting on foot!

The Azhag art piece confirms several Lords to chose from I guess.

More funny lance animations. Oh who am i kidding, they probably reused attila/rome2 animations for mounted spears. Here's to hope they are placeholders. These Reiksguard look kinda uninspired, it looks like some horses are missing frontal barding.

It would be ridiculous if they cont get lance animations right. Also that lance is too short and stumpy really. But details.

Uncouched lances? Are they trying to break their wrists? lol. Good catch.

On the plus side the new image shows more helmet variety. Far more German/British looking which is how they should be. It's a bit more Drake and a bit less Cortes.

No idea what German/British means tbh. They should look German not British A bit more Hanz and certainly not Drake

Well there was no such thing, or at least it didn't include England. there are huge similarities among all big armies of the renaissance (German states, italian states, Spain, France and England) but if you want to look at extreme similarities you're better off looking at Italy (several Italian states were controled by th HGE) or even Spain ! (Charles Quint??) than England. There wasn't a shared culture, and while all armies had a similar vibe, you can't say that English troops looked more german than say French or Italian troops

Whut? Why would the empire look British? And what does Drake have to do with anything? Cortes is also a lot closer in terms of time to the timeframe from which Warhammer's Empire draws influence (I'd say pre-hispanic Habsburg HRE, aka, the time of Maximilian I) than Drake's (late 16th century, seafaring, colonization, pirates, and so on). I don't think late 16th century admiral like drake had his men dressed like late medieval german soldiers. I wouldn't be surprised if most of them actually used morrions as well. It's not uncommon to see him or his men looking a lot like your regular dutch nobleman or spanish conquistador of the time:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Drake:

    Drake and the Golden Hind:

That's not at all how the Empire aims to look like. The Empire is as german as german gets.

I mean the Protestant Northern Europeans.
I don't know where you make the cut for northern europeans, but Landsketchs (the main inspiration for the backbone of the Empire) are mainly from southern Germany (or Switzerland, if you consider whom they copied), and those regions were catholic for the most part (calvinist at best), specially if you consider the late 15th. early 16th. centuries from which the game draws most influences.

Flamboyant is the adjetive that you are most likely going to see used for imperial troops, and "northern european protestantism" is almost the exact oposite of that. Word of someone who has lived in Hamburg and visited Lübeck.

If anything, Landsknetchs are way more tied to the history of Spain than of Britain, and they fought alongside (morrion wearing) spaniards during their most iconic events (Pavía, the sack of Rome, etc).

Surprised that all we got was a teaser. Was at least hoping to see the gameplay video shown to press. I think we will get more info fairly soon though

The units in that last scene look much better than the screenshots, variety in the uniforms and helmets. Hopefully couched lance anims will be in later
