Is your M2TW a Steam or non Steam version? If it is a Steam version, did you perhaps have an update for M2TW?

Probably VirtualStore issue.. Go here ( http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...h-pictures-!-) ) and apply first three steps explained for Windows 7,8 and Vista Users:

    1) Edit Security for your main M2TW folder

    2) Unhide hidden folders

    3) Search your Computer/.../ VirtualStore/ Program Files or Program Files(x86) for either Sega/ Medieval II Total War or Medieval II Total War folder, and, if you find Medieval II Total War folder, delete it and restart your PC. Try to start TATW again.
If it doesn't work, then uninstall the Steam M2TW version if you have them both installed at the same time.

Ah, I just noticed the error code from your first post..

Error code c000009c is a device
error. In the start menu search box type cmd.exe, right click it in the list and run as administrator , in the command prompt box type
"CHKDSK /R /F" .. It might tell you you need a reboot to
do it, just type Y (yes) and press
    ENTER.

If the scan gives any disk errors you got a problem with your hard disk.

Try to fix it with either one of these methods ( they are both the same, I would suggest the one under Graphic Interface): http://www.w7forums.com/threads/how-...heck-disk.448/

Be sure to tick both options available ( Scan for bad sectors and fix errors ).

    Good luck!

I am glad it works now. HDD failure is our worst nightmare, lets hope yours will work for couple of more years.
