    This is the first time I've seen this one:

    Note that the icons are all jacked up.

    M2TW crashed with an "unknown error" on exiting the game. (It played fine for a couple of turns with the bugged icons.)

    That's an intermittent thing we've had since 2.0. Not sure what causes it, but the moment you notice it, save and quit and you'll be fine.

    I've had that before, when I alt+tabbed out and back in again. I'm not sure if that's the only cause, but just to be sure, try not to alt+tab too much. If you do encounter this, save and exit, then relaunch the game. This gets rid of it.

    I don't alt-tab, but I do have a dual monitor setup so I have EB2 on one monitor and other stuff on the other monitor and click between the two. (This normally causes no problems, which is nice!)

    Dual monitor clicking - might be related to the crash when clicking on factions in the selection screen too often and going back and forth from the selection screen.

    We used to have this problem in RTW- except it would cause the icons/unit pictures/ui related things to go white. It wouldn't necessarily cause a crash but it was simply a sign that RTW ran out of memory for the UI memory allocation part of the exe.

    I would assume it's the same problem in MTW2 - except that they don't turn white and it can cause a crash instead (sometimes). Perhaps MTW2 calls up UI parts as necessary now and then phases them out of the memory but the icons get jumbled via this process depending on how many are called up in a game session (over time the memory usage probably builds up until it reaches a critical point and crashes). RTW had a safe guard built in where it would cause the UI parts to get completely phased out I guess although MTW2 is lacking this.

    But yes, like Quintus said saving and then relaunching the game will fix the problem because the memory is phased out and you can start fresh.
