Default Assets from "The Last Roman" DLC

I'm not sure if the team has seen the assets from the new Attila DLC, but these are extremely sweet pieces of armor and I was wanting to know if any of you had entertained the thought of importing the assets from the new DLC to attila when it releases?

You probably haven't had the time to discuss it since it was just announced today, but I thought I would just drop the question here if you felt like answering

Definitely looks great, probably some quality stuff for ERE especially. I will leave the answering to the unit guys though

But of course I was just really impressed by the armor when I first saw it and so I just had to share!

The scale hauberk and the jeweled cuirass look especially good

Looks good. Bit funny they did the bronzed t-reinforcer spangenhelm as I just tweaked CA's own for a bronze variant, but theirs looks a lot better and is more than just my recolor. Checking the screenshots I see a lot of great stuff CA did that I'd be happ to use and work off.

I do hope they have changed the Roman army, it isn't the same as it was in Attila time line. Procopius tells us a great deal. Come to think of it, I pray they have changed the so called barbarians too..not half naked!

I really do hope they change the Romans to look more like this, as the Romans in Attila right now are extremely bland and too germanic looking. The picture of the Roman you posted is beautiful

Wait, I though ridge helmet was no longer in use during this time.

Intercisa type remained in use with an increase in another type of Spangenhelm - ,the Baldenhein style this is attested both in the writings of Theophylact Simocatta who claims similar type of helmets were still being worn before adopting lameller style Spangenhelms from Avars in later sixth century.

So, when was the intercisa helmet last used by imperial troops? late 500's AD?

Also, didn't the soldiers have a more hellenic look as well?

I think the usage is generally cited to be 'known' in use between the mid Third and early Fifth Centuries AD, though later Byzantine helmets even half a millenium later appear to be derived from these in many design aspects so perhaps it's not totally unfair of CA to extrapolate that 5th Century AD helmets were probably quite similar to their recent precedents.

The Roman army was Roman and continued to use traditional elements in its panoply all through its history. I'm not sure what a 'Hellenic look,' is? Perhaps it is just a case of hindsight, you are aware that as time went on the Empire took on a more Greek culture, but not forgetting that Greek language, culture, had always been dominate in the east, even during the Pricipate.
With regards to Belisarius army, the army he was given to take to north Africa and Italy , it was not in the main the regular Roman field army anyway.
He had at his disposal in Africa his household troops (Procopius does not actually use the term Bucellarii at all) these household troops were comprised of Hypaspistai and Doryphoroi.
He also had φοιδεράτοι phoideratoi, these were units of foreign and Roman units, under Roman command in Roman uniforms.( these do not have the same meaning as in earlier centuries as Foederati).
Foederati in this period were now referred to as Latin Socii or Greek σύμμαχοι symmachoi and were not part of regular army, but foreign allies and mercenaries.
He also Procopius tells use had Limitanei Legions with him taken from many of the Danubian and Persian frontier areas. A small side note on this, much of the previous field armies (Comitatus) had been changed to a Limitanei (offensive) status at this point.

New elements looks great. I am happy that CA made it. I wrote to them several times in threads asked for elite jewelled ridge helmets, more patterns of tunica manicata, muscled cuirasses with pteruges and others.

There is my thankful thread to CA for new elements:

There are still elements needed. I hope they won't finnish to make new elements for this game. Before Last Roman Vanilla elements were poor.
