On his way further north Armand decided to try his luck at one of the last culturally similar holdfasts he would encounter for some time. the peculiarities of the northmen seemed to begin north of White Harbor. As he descended upon the bustling port city he chose a spot to land where the sudden appearance of a dragon would not spark mass panic. Silverwing descended swiftly and silently, drawing little attention. Arryn leapt off her back, his white cloak fluttering in the chilled sea breeze. He approached the gate and addressed the guards. "Ser Armand Arryn of the Queensguard for Lord Manderly."

White Harbor was heralded as one of the great five cities of Westeros, albeit not as well renowned as the others. It had been the most unfortunate of events that had led to the Manderly's taking rule of the fair city, which was prosperous in it's trade and maritime industries, when they were driven from the Reach by those jealous of their prestige and power of the time only to be generously accepted in the North in return for undivided loyalty. The city was a weird clash of cultures, the colourful and bustling aura found in cities such as Kings Landing were of great contrast to the icy presence of Northern society. It was a surprise such a beacon of warmth survived this far north, serving as a reminder of the Manderly's past history.

With all the commotion down south strangers were often looked upon with caution, which was also apparent with the men of the Queensguard as the local residents who gave glares as frosty as the lands around them towards the party. Yet the fact that they stood out like a sore thumb amongst the simple cityfolk made it much more evident to the guards that they were someone of importance, or at least retainers of someone important. It took a matter of minutes before Lord Manderly was informed of his unexpected guests and abandoned his current activity, swordsmanship practice, in order to personally make his way to the gate and welcome them. He was clearly enveloped in sweat and his breathing was slightly erratic and fast still as he bore down on Ser Armand with a devilish grin; even in troubled times such as these Owen Manderly was a cheerful and optimistic figure. If he did not appear high in Morale before his men how could he expect their spirits to be lifted as well?

His hand was outstretched in an offer of friendship towards the Queensguard, his brow raised in curiousity.

"Ser Armand is it? A pleasure. Perhaps you would walk with me to the holdfast so we may discuss why I have the honour of your presence?"

OOC: Apologies for the late reply, I honestly did not see your post.

Armand extended a gloved hand, smiling jovially. "That would be excellent. It is a bit warmer below The Neck - I wouldn't mind being indoors." He replied as they began to work side by side. "I've never been North before. It is...much different here." As a lad of a mere seventeen years Armand had accomplished much, but he lacked a good deal of experience of his older counterparts either on the Guard or otherwise.

Lord Manderly chuckled amicably, spinning with some speed to launch the pair onwards towards the keep.

"You would not be surprised how often I hear comments of our-" He paused to add extra weight to the humour of the comment. "welcoming climate. Many great men have succumbed to a frosty grave in these lands. It was not all that long ago my ancestors had to adapt to this harsh yet devilishly beautiful landscape, yet now our blood is tempered with ice."

After much self-appreciating comments the young Queensguard was spared more trivial conversation as they came to a halt in one of New Castle's more tepid halls, for the convenience of his guests. Owen was quick to signal one of the many household servants to bring wine so her could proffer a goblet to Armand,

"Perhaps you would care for wine before you share the purpose of your visit?"

Armand accepted the goblet. "Anything to put some fire back in me" He replied as he took several sips. "Now then, I have come on a mission from the Queen." He took several steps towards the tapestries that hung on the wall, admiring their depictions of notable Manderlys, White Harbor, and winter scapes. "We are attempting to rebuild the Queensguard, and we require more recruits. The Queen had originally desired a representative from each of the Kingdoms, but this has proven difficult. Not all folk are willing to provide. As for me, I will search for additional members from among those families whose virtue is intact." He took another sip of wine before continuing, his green eyes still darting from scene to scene. "I was hoping House Manderly could help me."

Lord Owen was rather apprehensive at first to the young lad's request yet his demeanour softened and he came slowly round to the idea as Armand mentioned that he was looking among the virtuous of families, which Owen firmly believed his family was one of. He slowly wandered over to a painting of his Grandfather, sipping rather conservatively at his wine before responding to the inquiry,

"You could not of come at a more opportune moment for I had been deciding what to do with my youngest sibling Robb. He has been mercilessly pestering me for a position here at White Harbor but I am sure with a little persuasion he would be willing to donate his services to the Queensguard if it meant he did not have to pace around aimlessly all day."

A small devious smile erupted on Owen's face,

"And it would mean he would be no longer a nuisance to myself which would be highly appreciated. Perhaps you would like to meet him if you think he would be worthy enough of the duty?"

    OOC: Sorry about the delay.

Armand nodded "That would do nicely. Provided he is a man of character I am sure he would make a good fit."
