    Pyke, Seat of House Greyjoy

    Members of House Greyjoy

    Gelmarr Greyjoy, the Red Kraken

    Age: 38 (born 91 AC)
    Marital Status: N/A

Bio: Gelmarr of the House Greyjoy is the son of the late Torwyn and was known as a rather reckless boy and ruthless man. Upon reaching the age where he could command his own crew and ship, Gelmarr left with a group of young warriors and his uncle, Urras, to Essos. There the group of young Ironborn, led by Gelmarr and Urras, would see action in the Disputed Lands and along the sea lanes to take down pirate ships and roaming slavers. Shortly before the death of Torwyn, Gelmarr's uncle died in combat on the pirate infested islands of Stepstones. Gelmarr, thrown into a fierce rage, cut his way through the oncoming pirates, leaving a trail of blood, severed limbs and guts until the very pirate captain, who slayed his uncle, was beheaded. Gelmarr returned to his ship, drenched in blood and carrying the body of Urras. The Ironborn who followed the pair would herald Gelmarr as the Red Kraken and the Bloody Reaper. Gelmarr returned to the Iron Islands, where he properly buried his uncle and recently deceased father. Having witnessed the death of his uncle and buried his father, young and reckless boy would die that day and, from the seas, would rise the ruthless and cunning Lord Reaper of Pyke that he is known as today. He has taken a few salt wives, but has no legitimate rock wife of his own.

During his time on the seas, Gelmarr would gain the possession of a Valyrian Steel sword from a dead corsair. The sword was named Nightfall by Gelmarr and remains in his possession.

    Traits (9 points):
+3 Naval Battles - Thanks to the tutelage of his uncle, Urras, and the action seen in the seas of the Stepstones, Gelmarr is a feared naval commander.
+2 Pillager - Gelmarr's raiding action among the waves of various seas and along all sorts of shores makes the Ironborn a cunning pillager.
+2 Survival - The action seen in Essos, Stepstones and the sea have made Gelmarr a survivor of sea storms, monsters and men.
+6 Duel (+4 from Nightfall) - Gelmarr gained much experience from his time in Essos and on the seas. With Nightfall in his possession, the Ironborn is a reckoned and feared warrior among his kin and the Iron Island folk.

    Offspring (2 children):
Wulfgar Greyjoy, eldest salt son of Gelmarr (Age: 13, Marital Status: N/A)
Fergon Greyjoy, second salt son of Gelmarr (Age: 11, Marital Status: N/A)
Alannys Pyke, bastard daughter of Gelmarr (Age: 7, Marital Status: N/A)

    Relatives of House Greyjoy
Urron Ironsword, half-brother of Gelmarr (Age: 33, Marital Status: Married)
Lodos Pyke, the Handsome, bastard half-brother of Gelmarr (Age: 29, Marital Status: N/A)
Craghorn Salt-Speaker, Drowned Priest and Uncle of Gelmarr (Age: 54, Marital Status: N/A)

    Provincial Statistics
    Regional Bonuses
    - Clifftop Stronghold: With many of its towers standing on thin stacks in the sea, it is a miracle that so much of the castle of Pyke is still standing. A thick curtain wall surrounds the area of the castle which stands on the mainland, and the towers are connected by thin bridges, meaning that storming them is incredibly difficult, as many of the bridges are too small for two men to cross side by side. +3 to siege defense.
    - Home of the Ironborn: Few of the Ironborn would say that any one of their islands is more important than the others, but to those from the mainland Pyke is the main island, as it is the home of the Lords Paramount, House Greyjoy. All characters get +10% pillage.
    - Capitol of the Ironborn: Discount of 15% for all naval units. Grants an additional 2,000 naval points
    - Ironborn Fleet: The Ironborn lords have access to a large amount of longships: 10% discount when buying ships.

    Provincial Statistics
    - Very Rich Province: 60,000 Golden Dragons

Rain pelted the stone works of the Pyke, the ancient castle of House Greyjoy. Long ago, it used to be a marvelous castle, but as the ocean claimed rock, bits of it fell off, leaving a series of towers and isolated pieces, connected by swaying bridges that were held over the dark abyss of the Drowned God's realm. A fierce storm had kicked up, smashing itself against the fortress, yet it held as it had always done against the gale of the Storm God, the adversary of the Drowned God.

As rain pelted and thunder clapped, Gelmarr Greyjoy sat within the main keep, finding solitude among the old rocks and the fireplace before him. The amber glow of the fire lit up the weathered and fierce face of the dreaded Lord Reaper of Pyke. A reckless boy once, who fought pirates and mercenaries in Essos, who claimed the Valyrian Steel sword Nightfall, who claimed the head of the pirate captain and a dozen others who slew his uncle before his eyes. Those days were long gone. Gelmarr was still a dreaded and feared man, respected by his Ironborn kin, yet he had become shrewd, cunning and patient since his days of boyhood.

Today, Gelmarr quietly cleaned the polished and tempered steel of Nightfall, a blade won in a duel by the death of the adversary corsair who could barely wield it. Its smooth and slick surface shined brightly in the amber glow of the flames crackling in the fireplace before the Lord Paramount of the Iron Isles. The Greyjoy gazed upon the fine craftsmanship of the sword for awhile before having it sheathed. The Red Kraken felt that patience would weather the storm over the Greenlanders as dragon fought dragon and brother fought sister. Gelmarr believed that the war could easily end if those incestuous Valyrians simply just bedded and called it a night. Rhaenyra already opened her skirts to Harwin Strong, Laenor Velaryon (though this was highly unlikely) and her uncle, Daemon. Aegon the Elder would just be another tally for the she-dragon. The Ironborn had already made his policies; no Greenlanders would never gain an audience with him or any of the Ironborn Lords. This was a Greenlanders struggle, not one the Ironborn should get involved with.
