Default To Smear A Lord's Name

A flock of ravens descend upon the Reach from King's Landing. On purpose, these ravens do not come to the keeps of House Footly and those sworn to them, but to other keeps whose loyalties are unknown as of right now to Aegon II. The ravens carry a letter, perfectly forged by the Grand Maester, who copy the writing of Daemon Targaryen from a letter found in his chambers. The letter aimed to smear the honor and image of not only House Footly, but that of the Green's cause. There is a second letter, explaining how this letter came into the hands of Aegon.

    Lord Yoren Footly of Tumbleton:

Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Princess of Dragonstone and rightful heir to the Iron Throne, is most gracious for your words and hope that your loyalty will be ever unquestioned, despite the vile powers that plot to undo the will of Viserys I, his Grace the King and Lord of the Seven Kingdoms. After much discussion, the Princess has decided to support your claim on Highgarden once his Grace passes away and the vipers reveal their true colors.

Along with this would of course the titles of Lord Paramount of the Reach and Warden of the South be granted to you, Lord Footly. House Tyrell are nothing but usurpers and opportunists, mere stewards raised far above their stations after opening the gates to Aegon the Conqueror, the First of His Name, King of the Andals, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms. Many other houses with better bloodlines, chief among them your own, would have been more suitable than the Tyrell. I suspect that House Hightower, whose members plot against us at this very moment, had a part to play in this arrangement. Controlling a weak puppet from the shadows seems to be their main strategy, then and now. We need a strong man to rule the greatest region in the realm, one of a long and noble line.

Lord Footly, Princess Rhaenyra thanks you once more for your oaths of fealty. We cannot allow the greens to undo all that we have worked for, the Queen putting her weak-willed son Aegon on the Iron Throne would doom the Seven Kingdoms. The Princess wants to put every man where he rightfully belongs. I hope that you will stand with her once the time comes.

In the Light of the Seven,
    Prince Daemon Targaryen
To the Lords of the Reach,

This letter was apprehend by a patrol in the Kingswood who found a lone rider, avoiding the main roads, and heading due West. As per protocol, the patrol captured this rider and interrogated him. The noble Lord Thorne, whose patrol had captured this rider, sent him to King's Landing for further questioning. It was learned that this rider was in the service and pay of Daemon Targaryen, who is known to have enlisted the services of many persons during his time as Lord Commander of the Goldcloaks, not only in the capital but throughout the Crownlands.

Upon the promise of amnesty and release, the rider spilled the truth of Daemon's intentions to remove the Tyrells so that one who is more willing to aid his wife in her claim for the Iron Throne would be placed as Lord Paramount of the Reach and Warden of the South. The rider spoke that Daemon viewed the Tyrells and his nephew, Aegon, the Second of His Name, [further titles attached] as of similar stock; baseless usurpers who were never born to rule, but to follow and scrap their feet on the dirt that they were privileged to even stop upon. Due to Lord Footly's known loyalties to Rhaenyra's cause, Daemon saw it fit to reward Footly for his future services with Highgarden, a Tyrell lady, and their titles. For even the Footlys, as Daemon said, have a better claim over the treacherous Stewards of the Reach.

I send this letter to you, captured by this rider, to show the true face of House Footly and those he supports. I, as the rightful King, would never seek to remove those from power who were put in place by my great forefather. For Aegon the Dragon knew of the just reasons and benefits to make the Tyrells the successors to House Gardener. He knew of their talents, their services, their deeds and saw it fit to make them the Lord Paramounts of the Reach above all others. Unlike my half-sister and her treacherous husband, I would never seek to remove the Tyrells. They have served the Crown faithfully, continued the legacy of House Gardener and ensured prosperity, peace and unity to the Reach. To even consider removing them is a crime, a treasonous action! One that should never be supported by any Reachlord, for the Reach knows all the virtues of honor, justice and goodness. For they are chivalrous knights, faithful nobles and honest persons.

I extend my hand in friendship, Lords of the Reach. I extend my hand in friendship to ensure that the machinations of my uncle and half-sister do not undo the tranquility and unity of the Reach for the sake of a House more willing to do their dirty work. Join me, noble men and women of the Reach. Join me in punishing the Footlys and my traitorous relatives so that Westeros may know peace once more!

Signed in the 129th year since the landing of Aegon the Dragon,
Aegon, the Second of His Name, [further titles attached here]

The goal is to smear the reputation of House Footly and that of Rhaenyra and her group and, in doing so, cause those (NPCs mostly) who have given their swords to Rhaenyra to change their hearts for either neutrality or for the side of the Greens. I know this may require a lot of work in terms of rolls or anything in general.

Be aware that the first letter was expertly forged by a Grand Maester. It would require a roll and the eyes of a Maester to even tell if the letter is a fake.
