    Default What's up with Marakanda ?

    So, I'm playing as Baktria currently, and Marakanda has just been wierd since the begining of the game.

    First off, it starts with 50% unrest (+ 40% civil unrest because of culture). I thought it was because of some kind of ennemy spy, but I'm at turn 60 now, I've had a spy (lvl 10 now) in there the whole time, and unrest never goes down.

    Then, my own faction's culture keeps going down all the time there, even with all possible culture buildings at max lvl (at the time). I'm now down to 21% (from 33 iirc), and nothing seems able to stop or slow the fall. I suppose neighbors have something to do with that, but it still seems a bit extreme, and baktra is at 50% without problem.

    So, is there something I am missing, or is there a problem with the settlement ?

    It has a Native Colony (Phourion Laon) in it. That increases Eastern Imperial culture, and very fast. I found this out the painful way, when I thought it was a Hellenistic Colony building.

    It's also meant to have that issue iirc from the province text baktria always had problems with that one.

    So the presence of the eastcol may be a deliberate move to make integration difficult.

    Damn, I had completely missed that in the building description, even though now it's pretty obvious. I just thought those buildings provided auxilliaries-like troops, but otherwise didn't really contribute to cultural conversion unlike the hellenic military outposts. Guess I'll read the descriptions a lot more carefully now.

    The 50% unremovable unrest seems a bit high however. It's extremely limiting, especially in the early game. I mean, you're going to need to garrison Marakanda a bit (or a lot) anyway, since you have the Saka and Pahlava to worry about, but right now, you can't even leave it for a few turns with less than 4-5 units and a general.

    Garrisons never have more than 40% impact on unrest anyway, to keep Marakanda, you have to ensure there's a good governor there.
