Default A Visit To The Twins

    Cha! Cha!

Lady Corbray and her retinue sped down the road, pressing on northward through country she knew only too well. Farra Frey was a woman of a man's make, strong and gallant, skilled with a horse and uncommonly pretty (especially for a Frey). Still, she loved her kin and lands of birth, and no sooner had war broken out than her mind turned to her Riverlander kin. Her son was here less frequently, but Ser Jaime was hardly a stranger to the Kingsroad bound north either.

Flying her personal banners of Frey and Corbray impaled and quartered Arryn and Targaryen inescutcheoned, Lady Farra and Ser Jaime Corbray requested admittance to the Twins, to speak with Lord Frey of the Crossing.

Flying south from Winterfell, Prince Jacaerys lands outside the Twins atop Vermax and presents himself at the gates, seeking audience with Lord Frey.

(Lady Farra no doubt arrived long before him, but whatever their answer to her he would still stop there en route south).

    OOC: Sorry for the delay.

Lord Frey warily appears before Prince Jaecaerys. He waits for him to speak first.

The Prince bowed gently as he entered Lord Frey's presence. "My Lord Frey, you are gracious to receive me in your hall. I come to pay my respects to the Lord of the Twins, on behalf of myself and my mother, the Queen Rhaenyra. My cousin Lord Corbray being wed to your [daughter/sister] I feel we are almost kin."

"Why have you come here Prince Jacaerys?" asked Lord Frey bluntly. He had little time for formalities.

"I come to you by way of Winterfell, where Lord Stark has entered into an accord with myself on behalf of my mother. His men shall march south sooner rather than later... I understand your liege-lady Lady Tully also stands with my mother the Queen. I come therefore to see what can be done to ensure the Twins stand with us all in this conflict."

"And what do you have to offer for my support?" asked Lord Frey.

"I need a Kingsguard and a squire. Perhaps House Frey could help fill either or both vacancies?" Jace's face remained neutral, though he hoped the singular honours of both roles would be enough to sway Lord Frey's kind heart.

"You ask what is beyond your grasp young Prince. No one would send one of their own to survive a Queen who does not yet own her own throne." said Lord Frey skeptically. "And no Lord would send a boy to be squired by a Pricne who has yet to reach the his own 16th nameday."

"To serve in the Queensguard and to take the side of a Prince as his squire are great honours, honours which have eluded House Frey thus far. My uncle's usurpation and the present...conflict is an inconvenience, certainly, but a temporary one. House Frey has an opportunity to rise higher than before, to the very inner circle of royal favour. Will you not take it, my Lord?"

Or else be trampled under the hooves of Riverrun and Winterfell alike.

10/20 roll. All other modifiers canceling each other out due to conflicting marriages.

Rolled an 18, Lord Frey decides to not accept the offer.

"I will decline Prince Jacaerys. House Frey already marches with Lord Tully and we have no reason to involve ourselves even further."
