Harlen and Leo took their seats opposite Lady Alla. She did not give them her customary smile, nor did she begin proceedings by asking them how they were. No, she had entered as Lady of Highgarden, their liege. Instead she waved a hand to encompass the map before them. It was a well-drawn piece of art, detailing the keeps and settlements which populated the fertile plains of the reach.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

You have read the letter. Would Rhaenyra really be that stupid?

The two men did not respond, trying to see the situation from the view of the Queen. Maybe because Lyonel was only a baby the Targaryen royal had thought that Highgarden would never give her the swords she needed. Lord Footly was by far her most vocal supporter in the Reach, and why was that? It could not have been simple loyalty surely?

It does not matter, what matters is how we proceed.

The army will have to march on Tumbleton. To do anything else will be allow treason to go unpunished. I will be blunt, Rhaenyra surely did not write that letter, nor was it written with her knowledge. A bastard's mother she was but a fool she is not. However, this will play to our hand.

The Reachlords will have to stand by your decision. To do anything else is to admit that they themselves are traitors. That would give us the right to destroy them.

Raising her hand to bring over one of the servants, Alla allowed a silence to settle while miniatures were placed on the keeps which contained lords who had defied her. The number was larger than any of them had ever wanted to see.

An example will have to be made.

Harlen and Leo sat as they did every day facing the walls of Tumbleton. In the middle of a vast army, the two Tyrell men had the luxury of being able to enjoying the power they had at their disposal. The smell, something that was usually an overpowering gut-punch of human living, had been mercifully redirected by the wind. This one small gift went a long way for the noblemen as they wiled their days away waiting for John Thistle's contraptions to be constructed.

    Any news from the war?

They were not part of it, not yet. Lady Alla had made that clear: the Reach would not march unless Tyrell was sworn in to the royal family. No longer would it be Hightower who had an arm and mouth in the capital, and instead it would be a more befitting family.

I do not think we want to know anything of the war at this moment.

We go to battle, Ser Jon! Harlen called out to the Roxton nobleman. Somewhere within the army before him he knew that Lord Roxton was resting, the fatigue of the campaign weighing heavily on him.

Men of the Reach, we go to battle against the barbarians of the North! For Highgarden!

The army of the Reach was massive, Horn Hill a rocky outcrop in the center of a wine-stain of chivalry and soldiery. Banners, and flags of a hundred colours and sigils waved in the air as thousands moved between the ranks of tents. Horses were brushed down by boys while squires sharpened blade edges. Mercenaries traded coins over card games while the levies exchanged stories from the battles they had survived. Knights drank and noblemen talked, sending their lessers on a hundred errands and missions. Pikemen practiced their formations as archers competed against each other to the detriment of the local deer population. Swords clanged together as spears deflected off of shields. Knives buried in to tree trunks and lances splintered on dummies. Thousands waited, their wounds closed and clothes stitched. They passed the time as their hair grew long and bodies became the homes of lice and meals of fleas. They waited on their betters passing down the order to march, carried on the air by the strained voices of a hundred messengers.

My daughter will kneel. She will represent us at Kings Landing and ensure that do not end our lives on her justice's blade.

Tarly should have been here. We could have crushed him and brought him to heel. Now we will have to live knowing that he believes himself a victor, that he defeated us.

I doubt he would think such a thing. Even if he did, what can he do? The others know the price of treason thanks to Tumbleton. They not to take up arms against us.

Even still, Highgarden will have opened its gates.

The Northmen stopped by Hornhill to oversee the surrender of the Tyrell host on their way back north, it'd be a long journey but they were the victors or the Queen was. There were some forty three thousand of them present. Lord Rickard leading the column followed by his uncle and half brother. They kept the prisoners from Hughgarden with them in case of trechery on the part of the Tyrells. Hail. He spoke as he approched the Tyrell host. I am Rickard of the House Stark and I've come to collect your blades and oversee the surrender of this army.

Tarly followed suit, his banners wavering on the wind. His host was battered but whole, and cheering could be heard from Horn Hill's battlement. The garrison rejoiced about their lord's come back. Alan wore his red armor and rode next to his eldest son and heir, Ser Garlan Tyrell.

I am Leo Tyrell, Master of Horse of House Tyrell. Here is my blade.

The steel was passed over from scabbard to Northern hand by a squire whose cheek was bandaged due to a close encounter with a Northern spear. With his commander's sword given over, Harlen was brought forward on the arms of two guardsmen, their muscles flexing with the strain.

    There is mine.

As his own blade came down, another joined it, and another, then an axe, followed by a greatsword.

I think your Northerners will be wanting these ones back.

Shaking his head in dismay at the younger man's aggravating act, Leo continued.

Normally we would be honoured enough to simply release our captives after the fighting is over. However we doubt the integrity and noble-bearing of those who do not share your renowned lineage. Our Footly and Northern captives, Mors Maidensbane chief among them, will be released for Lord Grimm's son and any captives you have claimed at Highgarden. When that is accepted you can watch our knees crack as they bend.

Rickard glared at Harlen. Know you've made no friends of the Northmen, and the North never forgets. He was uncharacteristicly cold, but these Reachmen had musdered North after the war was ended. The prisoners (comprised mostly of every high ranking man from Highgarden) were brought forward. Return those men you've taken captive immediately, you are the surrendering party and you'll have yours once you've striken your banners and knelt before gods and men.

OOC: I won't argue about when the battle happened in relativity to the end of the war

Leo accepted that with a grim nod, sending a messenger back to Ser Jon to bring forward those captives from the battle on the Kingsroad.

I suppose I speak for the two of us when I say that I hope this sorry business can be forgotten: I have a family to get back to.

Harlen did not speak again, turning his back on the foreign invaders with a heavy shake of his head.

F---ing Targaryens, he muttered as he rejoined the men, passing those he had captured.

I just want to go home Ser, and put all you southerners far behind me. I thank the Old Gods the Neck separates us from the instantly down here. The prisoners were taken into Northern hands and released. The captured Tyrells and Roxtons were released once Leo bent his knee and the banners of Tyrell striken from the feild.
