    Default A rightful cause

Tarly was a redoubtable warrior, he was fearless, strong, skilled in arms. However, Hightower had the largest army in the Reach under Lord Tyrell's own host. Againt such army even Horn Hill stands little chance, for the war machine of the Oldtown could not be faced alone. Thus, Tarly needed the suppport of other Reach Lords whose banners should be raised. Of course Tarly expected to be handsomely rewarded once the war ends, he was no fool.

    ----------------------------------

Goldengrove, seat of House Rowan, one of the proudest, oldest and most noble and powerful houses in the Reach. Tarly's retinue arrived to its gates, under the golden canopies of the many oaks which densely covered the hill were the oak lords had their seat.

Lord Tarly is allowed to enter with his closest companions once their weapons have been taken into custody by the guards. A steward leads them to the main keep. Lord Rowan waits for them in the great hall, scratching his short beard in thought.

"Welcome, Lord Tarly. I can guess why you're here, since there have been many ravens bringing dark words, and no words have come from Highgarden. You've taken matters into your own hands, haven't you? Go on, then, let's hear it. We don't have time to waste."

"Indeed, I also don't want to lose a single minute. Lord Rowan, I come to request your aid in the fight against the usurper lackeys in the Reach. The Old King let succession clear, Rhaenyra was her heir, and no-one else. Aegon is no King of mine. We cannot let the Hightowers rally all the might of the Reach, more so, they are powerful today, how they will be if the usurper is victorious? We have to march together under the quartered banners of Queen Rhaenyra, to topple the usurper and defeat his kinsmen of Oldtown"

ooc: He has +2 Charisma (1+fruit bonus) don't know if it's needed. More so, Tarly is his brother-in-law, married to Lord Thaddeus' sister.

Which side will Lord Rowan choose?

+2 from charisma trait, no other positive modifiers will be added due to being asked to act on his own. A base 8/20 chance of winning his favor, along with the risk of him staying neutral or choosing Aegon.

    1-8: Rowan goes black
    9-14: Rowan stays neutral
    15-20: Rowan goes green

Roll: 5, Lord Rowan is convinced to join Tarly's support of Queen Rhaenyra.

Lord Rowan rises from his seat and walks up to Lord Tarly and holds up his own hand to shake his brother-in-law's hand.

"You are right, Lord Alan. We must respect the wishes of the late King Viserys, so Queen Rhaenyra can count on the might of Goldengrove."

OOC: The levies of Goldengrove and its vassals will be called and gather at Horn Hill in 12 hours.

After some cheers and celebrations Tarly leaves for Old Oak. Oakheart commanded a large force and controlled the Oceanroad. More so, Oakheart could provide ships, something Tarly utterly lacked.

Tarly was let into Old Oak, meeting Lord Oakheart in the great hall.

"Lord Alan, may the Seven guide you on your path. I've intently watched where the realm is headed, and I've read the messages the ravens carry."

"May the Warrior guide us. And glad you've closely watched everything"

    Said the colossal Tarly.

"My Lord, Queen Rhaenyra faces usurpation. The swords of the Reach must support her claim and inheritance, as was stablished by the old King. Hightowers are already too powerful, shall Aegon the Elder win they could increase their authority beyond its reasonable, domineering the Reach. We must honor our oath to Rhaenyra and raise our banners and defend her rights. Our honor demands us to raise our swords. Lord Rowan is mustering his banners in order to join his swords with mine. We will need your support as well, Lord Oakheart. With the power combined of Rowan, Tarly and Oakheart we can defeat Hightower and the lackeys of Aegon the Usurper"

OOC: I'll do the same roll as with Rowan, it seems fair. Though as Oakheart defied his liege by not going to the meeting in Highgarden, the chance of staying neutral goes down and the chance of going green goes up to counter Tarly's bonus.

    1-8: Oakheart goes black
    9-13: Oakheart stays neutral
    14-20: Oakheart goes green

Roll: 11, Lord Oakheart reluctantly refuses Lord Tarly, choosing to stay neutral during the conflict.

    Oakheart shakes his head.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you, Lord Alan, but I cannot allow my house to throw itself headfirst into this war. I won'd march for Rhaenyra, though I won't march for Aegon either. You'll have to search for allies elsewhere. May the Mother protect you and the Crone give you wisdom."

"It saddens me my Lord. Hopefully you won't mourn your decision. Our troops will let your lands unmolested and undisturbed, Lord Oakheart. I must wish you farewell now"

Oakheart's neutrality was a big blow. However there were still some Reach lords whose allegiance was uncertain. He rode back to Horn Hill pensive and troubled, and then rode to Ashford, once there requests an audience with Lord Ashford.

At Ashford, Lord Tarly is stopped outside the walls, the gates closed on him. Archers watch him warily from above, as Lord Ashford appears on the ramparts.

"I know why you're here, Tarly! You want me to join your queen in her bid for the throne, betraying my Hightower relatives who stand against you!"

"There's no neeed to raise your swords against your Hightower kinsmen or my own men, Lord Ashford, choose neutrality and war will simply avoid your lands, that shall be left unmolested during the conflict to come. I swear my men won't harm your domains!"

    He shouted to the battlements.

-10 from Ashford being wed to Hightower. This will be changed to a 25% chance to go green, a 25% to stay neutral and a 50% chance of going green.

    1-5: Oakheart goes black
    9-10: Oakheart stays neutral
    11-20: Oakheart goes green

Roll: 14, Ashford sides with greens.

Lord Ashford spits off the wall.

"By the seven hells that I can stay neutral with the whole bloody realm marching to war. I've already chosen my side, and I'll see you on the opposite end of the battlefield. Long live Aegon II!"
