    Default Localized.pack will not install

Trying to install normally it cuts out when the file main\packs\localized.pack needs to be copied. Tried to do the desktop install but that one file will not copy. I've exchanged the discs, got new drivers for my DVD drive. What can I do?! Can someone upload that one file for me? Or something, I dunno.

That's what Im saying. I went and exchanged the discs already and its the same problem with the new set too. I own the game. Im not asking for a CD hack or anything just a file Ive already payed for. No need to post it or anything either so the forum cant get in trouble. I cant really imagine that CA or SEGA is gonna care.

How old is the DVD drive? You may have to get a new drive, also do you know what speed it is.

Sending the file to you won't help at all. Honestly. Besides, its like 500mb

Copy the MTW2 DVDs to your hard drive and run the setup.exe from there. Let us know if there are any errors while copying the files.

That's what Im saying. The file won't install normally off of the disc or copy to my desktop to do an install that way. I've tried several times with both my original copy and the one I traded in for. In any event, I ordered a new drive anyway cuz Ive been meaning to get a DVD burner anyway, so hopefully that should solve the problem.

First time posting. I am having the same problem with the localized pack. I have a DVD rom drive that I try to install from. I have a pretty new computer with plenty of memory and all the requirements supposedly to install MTW2. I thought at first that the disks were the problem and went and exchanged the disks for another new set. When I tried to install the second time I get the exact same problem. Have tried to contact Sega but they have never replied. Basically I feel their customer support is a joke. You guys are my last hope to install this game. Can anyone help me?????

I must agree also. I got this game for Christmas and have taken it back to two different walmarts (now the people know who I am, so I can't keep going back)... and it still doesn't work. It is the same exact file: localized.pack that is causing the problem. Alls I want to do is kick some medieval butt! Who can help us? Or I am going to give up. I have a new computer (as in less than a year old)... and I have a gig of RAM, and I even swapped out DVD-readers... so my hardware isn't an issue.

Hmm, have you tried to install the game on another computer? This would help with isolating the problem to your computer or the discs. You could also try, if you can get a hold of one, using an external dvd-drive. Are you running Windows Vista?

For what it is worth, my son had been having this problem on the desktop computer (older) but the program installed perfectly on my laptop (new Dell). Normally I do not subscribe to the idea that the hardware would cause this problem but the signs are almost overwhelming. I cannot copy the localized.pack file from the DVD/CD ROM to the hardrive and it will not install within the setup program.

If anyone has an idea how to work around this I am all ears.

    Thanks

Have you tried to make an iso image file of the whole dvd? Some times one file can't be read like that, but if you make an image of the whole disk it sometimes works. Then you could use WinRar to unpack it to do a desktop install. For example.

So basically are you saying I need to use my DVD burner to copy the game's DVD and then download the copied DVD to the desktop and run the install from there? I think I get most of what you are saying but I have never heard of used Win Rar - thanks for the posting. Teach me oh wise one.

Hehe, I think you can use programs like Nero burning software to make what is called an ISO image. It will create a .iso file. For example mtw2.iso if you call your image mtw2.

This image can be opened in different archivers, like WinRar for example. You can download a fully functional trial with nag-screen here: http://www.rarsoft.com/

If you can successfully create the image, you can upen it in WinRar and un-pack it to your place of choice on your HD(s). And from there try to run the install. You can also mount it in a virtual drive, like Daemon Tools, and do the install from there. But some times you can run in to other problems if you run most of your games from the original DVDs/CDs and not images if you use DT. So try the ISO/WinRar approach first.

If you get an error when you try to create the iso-image, it is either the DVD disc itself or the drive. If you have Nero installed you can try to run the Transfer Rate-test from the Nero CD-DVD Speed tool. You can then see wher on the disc it fails.

There are other ways to make an iso too, just google it (i.e. how to make an iso image). Good luck to you! And let me know if you need any further advice/assistance. And please let me/us know if you get it to work.
