Dragonstone was and is the origin of this great kingdom, the birthplace of conquerors and kings, and the nest of dragons. The Targaryens came here from Valyria to escape the Doom, and within two generations, set about bringing the whole of Westeros under their control, through fire and steel.

The island sits in Blackwater Bay, guarding the Gullet, and is created by the active volcano Dragonmont.
The fortress itself sits upon the side of the volcano, while around the other slopes sit many caves, cliffs, and piles of dragonglass. The castle was built using old Valyrian techniques which were lost in the Doom. The citadel is of black stone, the towers are carved into the likeness of dragons, and some 1,000 gargoyles guard the walls and balconies.

It is built into a cliff; wrought from mysterious black stone. +4 to siege defense rolls. Narrow Sea Lord: The chief lord of the lords of the narrow sea is the lord of Dragonstone. As such, he commands a larger ship levy than other lords granting an additional 1,000 naval points. Map of Westeros: Dragonstone has access to a huge map of Westeros, engraved into the table of Dragonstone to prepare for Aegon's conquest. As such, the Lord of Dragonstone has a higher tactical knowledge of the area. +1 field battles.

Shortly after the death of Viserys I, Steffon Darklyn arrives at Dragonstone, reporting the death of Viserys I and the elevation of Aegon to Kingship by his mother and the Lord Commander, Ser Criston Cole. With him, Steffon brings the crown of Viserys I to Rhaenyra.

Daemon gestured towards some maids who led Rhaenys to the Princess' bedchamber.

Daemon's gaze clouded with the vision of the crown. After so many years it was fainlly at hand, and he was close to sit on the throne, as Lord Protector of the Realm by his wife's side. The reward of his efforts, his intrigue, his ambitions.

He looked his stepsons and the Kingsguard.

"Do not hurry yourselves. We must send our ravens to those lords who swore fealty to your mother years ago, including the seven great houses and the lords of the Crownlands, whose support is vital"

Jace shook his head. Have the Maester send ravens. Already Lords Darklyn and Footly have come forward. We must organize a Small Council and proper Kingsguard, to show the realm that Aegon is but an usurper and mother the rightful ruler with a functioning ruling apparatus.

Jace nodded at the man even as he picked up the crown solemnly and brought it over to his mother, wondering how this Darklyn fellow had managed to get access into her confinement. Mother, with your leave I will assemble a Small Council to organize our resistance to Aegon's usurpation.

Lucerys looked at the crown, the full force of the realization of what it meant yet to hit him. They had known the King was going to die, his illness wasting away the once lively royal. Now that it had happened, Luke was having a hard time to completely accept it. What he did understand clearly was that the Greens had made their move. They had revealed themselves to be traitors, a fact that had festered in the darkness of their bodies since the birth of Aegon. Now the light would shine on them all. The light from dragonfire.

Good. Jace smiled faintly. Let us have guards posted at the door to make sure no one interrupts mother or makes her birth any more difficult with talk of politics and diplomacy. We should be ready to preside over this Council in a few hours or so.

Ay, Daemon, but Tyraxes is not big enough for long-distance flights yet. How would I look if I went there as a Targaryen prince without a dragon.

Helicent Celtigar arrives, accompanied by her brother. They request an audience with the newly formed council.

"You monster!" the screams wailed from the main tower.
It was a third day. A third day, of this labour.
"Get out! Get ouuuuut!" the princess screached through her ground teeth.

Her eyes were red, with bags under them, bug-eyed and angry.
Three days and counting...

"Get it out!"

A servant had, unwisely, told Rhaenyra about what had happened.
Her father was dead, and her brother had been crowned as Aegon II.
An ocean of foul emotion came down upon her, and now a monster was exiting her wound, not a child.

At the end of the day, she laid there, finally looking upon the dead child that came from her womb.
The women paused hesitantly, but wrapped the child in white cloth, pretending not to be disgusted, and it was never seen again.
Winged, horned, scaled, tailed...

And then, she slept, for a long time.

Prince Jace waited by his mother's beside, eager for a private word with her when she woke. He also gave orders that the dead, deformed babe be cremated in keeping with Targaryen custom.

Mother, it's me.
