Long Live Chivalry TW: it's better than M2TW

The title says it all. I've uninstalled M2TW, which does not run smoothly on my system, to save space for this amazing mod, which is a masterpiece of historical accuracy. Don't quit, please; I suspect many of us are depending on CTW for our medieval fix.

This mod is the product of many, many intelligent and creative choices. Can't wait to see what's next.

Anything better than Chivalry total war seems to be Chivalry 2: Total war in M2TW engine. \o/

I truely love Chiv.. But a mod cant compete with a new TW game with a great many new features that go beyond the hard coded limits of RTW. I still love to play Chiv but MTW2 is just better - although i will surely be playing the final era build.

No offense, but comparing the two is tantamount to blasphemy. M2TW is far, FAR..FAR better than Chivalry. Can you imagine CA releasing a M2TW that didn't have the graphical etc.. updates- that was basically chivalry total war? It would be a disaster.

Yes, I agree CTW is a great mod, but it don't think it beats M2TW.

With the current state of AI and unit grouping bugs in MTW2, I've been playing this instead.

I don't think, that Chivalry can 'beat' or compete a bugfree M2TW on a high end machine (and that has never been the intention), but as M2TW isn't bugfree and many players don't own a pc able to run it on the settings needed to really enjoy the new features ... It's at least worth playing until M2TW is patched to a more satisfying state.

Many people enjoy/enjoyed MTW 1 also as RTW was out and was tested by themselves, me included, due to a better gameplay and better AI of MTW 1 than in Rome vanilla. I first came back to RTW as i joined the TW community and installed RTW mods like RTR for example.

So in conclusion, it is correct that Chivalry never is intended to compete with M2TW, no way, but indeed for some people seems Chivalry apply as a better choice regarding medieval gameplay/challenge, historical accuracy, realism etc., and there are in fact some people who like the Chiv graphics and music better than the one in M2TW.

Surely, if there are some M2 mods out that eleminate/improve the M2vanilla flaws (incl. the planned M2 patch-features), M2 will be due to the new generation of a game engine the better choice, no doubt.

This is also the reason why i/we decided to make a final Early Era campaign on RTW 1.5, planned to be finished at the end of the year ... so there will be a bit time to play Chiv until M2 is proper patched and the first proper M2-mods are out.

This said, there will be people who might enjoy ChivTW on RTW further, as they won't be able to play M2 proper due to low and medium systems, that fail unfortunately on M2.

You must be having a laugh . Chivaly is very good for a mod but has alot more bugs than MTW2 and is way behind in most things

i think the chivalry beta (which i played a while back) was altogether more enjoyable than the mtw2 demo,
and from that i conclude that chivalry is and always will be better. Not to mention the fact that its free
ive pretty much decided that im not buying another computer game for a long long time.

To be honest, CTW rocks in every aspect of the game. Just compare the final touches for the mod and vanilla RTW. From the historical accuracy to the very nice texture of the map and units...etc. The realistic behavior of units and their capabilities.

So, as mod for RTW, yes it is far better. But comparing it with MTWII isn't logical. But we can compare the final benefits for both as people like/dislike one of them more than the other is the trick. For me at least, I love CTW simply because I don't have MTWII right now .

I am very confident and happy that CTWII will be far better with MTWII engine.

By the way, just two mods made life better for me...RTR and CTW.

b) I can't run MTW:II anyway

As to which product is better, CTW or MTW2 what are you basing the comparison on?

CTW without a doubt.

MTW2 is a really shoddy product right now with the passive AI, the imbalance of units (uber-peasants..) and the animation problems with 2-handed units. My copy is sitting on a shelf waiting for over 4 weeks for the 0-day patch that never came.

The eye candy is better, but MTW2 doesn't hold a candle in gameplay compared to CTW. Maybe things will be better with the MTW2 patch. I'm skeptical as what confidence can you have when CA released this game is such as poor quality manner to begin with.

If CA released a game in this poor condition, I wonder how much better the patch is truly going to be.
