CREDITS TO IDREAUS FOR THE AWESOME LOGO

    Hello everyone,

I've been working on this for some time, and so I thought I'd be best served making this thread, both to reserve the topic and the mod, and to poll opinions about the subject...

    Now, the mod itself.

Currently, it's only about a new starting year of the Attila Campaign, which is 395 AD in vanilla and I want to move that to 481AD.
If there are enough positive reactions to this plan, other features can be added. (Possibly with the forming of a team...)

I think 481 AD is an awesome starting position because:
    • It's the year in which Clovis I Meroving was crowned, who was in my opinion much more important than Attila for European history...
    • It's one year after the fall of the Western Roman Empire...
    • There is a lot of information to be found about this era and their most important characters...

PRE-ALPHA SCREENSHOTS - SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Ignore the WRE parts, they will be replaced with Suebians, as well as Italy will be replaced with Kingdom of Italia etc.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

My planned map: (It is not consistent with some screenshots, as I am obviously not done with adding certain factions and I moved the Alamans a bit further north at the cost of some Frankish territory in the screenshots, for historical purposes...)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Vacant spots in the team:

    - Texturing

    - Anything else

This is no doubt a great idea and most welcome to the forum!
You should expand your team to make progress even more faster! There are great number of experienced modders out here.
With you as the mod leader this could be a overhaul to be aligned with Consantine: Rise of Christianity!

May I ask what remains before beta release?

    Thanks for your support, Jupiter...

    To answer your question:
As you can see in the screenshots, not all factions are in place yet...
As you cannot see in the screenshots:
No buildings have been converted to their respective faction cultures as of yet...
No generals (so no faction leaders either) have been added to any factions as of yet... (I do have some/most of tje research though: (Visigoths: Eurik, Franks: Clovis, Domain: Syagrius, kingdom of Italia: Odoacer, (Eastern) Roman Empire: Zeno etc.)
There is some research to be done about the state of Poland and Russia in this time period, the only places who are empty in different maps of Europe in 480 and 481 AD...

About the team, I'll lobby around a bit, see where it gets...

    Alright everyone,

I'd like to welcome Frakkr to the Research team...

Also, we found a name for the project, 'Origo Europae' which means 'Beginning of Europe'. This represents the time period, now that the Western Roman Empire is displaced, the foundations of the modern states in Europe have been laid, effectively the beginning of the history of modern states such as France (Francia)

Brilliant era to do. It's my pick for the next TW title actually, and Clovis Total War is a credible guess for the next CA title, or Dark ages TW.

Both awesome. I cant help because I'm no modder.

I hope you can pull it together .

Excellent era and plan I will be watching this space, be interesting to balance Theodoric's Goths in the Balkans, between ally and enemy. The only disappointing thing is there is probably no way of convincing Theodoric to attack Odoacer in Italy on the emperor's behalf.

Maybe with some faction diplomacy tweaking, but I fear you're right... (Unless I can somehow get a scripter in my team, which is a skill I unfortunately do not possess...)

Yes, you could start out making them hate each other, but then you might get the reverse! I'm sure a good scripter can be found once you get going. As I said I look forward to this a very interesting era to read, so I cannot wait to campaign against rampaging Gepids and Goths

You should eliminate the Bulgarian faction, at the end of the v century it did not yet appear as a political entity, besides the Danubian borders would not collapse until the VII century.

This is true, the Bulgar tribes (by no means a heterogeneous group) were raiding into the empire constantly, but were not a settled political entity inside the empire. The major threats at this time were the various Goths and Gepids that had broken free after break up of Attila's empire.

    Hi , thomahalk2k

I will contact you on steam to talk about the mod(got you on steam as friend already)
About the bulgarians (bulgars is a term invented in the 19th century just like the Byzantine empire for ERE by the historians)
There were 3 bulgarian tribes in the pontic steppes - The kutigurs, the utigurs and the onogurs. They werent united. they attacked themselfs. just. like. ERE. They historicaly were invited by ERE. to get rid of the Ostrogoths from the Balkans. When they Did - they started. raiding the balkans from the 480s up until the arival of the avars in the 560s. The first bulgarian s that settled. as feoderati to ERE was in the 580s.

I am pleased to announce that our team has just been expanded with Majorian.

Majorian already made a great start recreating the 481 AD start (482 AD in his mod). Get the mod here to get a feeling what Origo Europae will probably be like after we released a version...

And our team has been expanded with Gaius Antiochus Philopappos, who will help us with the research side of the mod...

Philopappos (may I call you Philopappos?) does and has done a lot of research already for famous projects such as RTR and the HELP project as well as a personal project.
We are glad to have such an experienced researcher in our team...

    Quick update, everyone,
As you all have seen, the beta version of the campaign version is there on steam and while there are some things to be added and/or removed we are fairly happy with the current state of affairs...

Any chance you could up load a version somewhere other than Steam? Some reason my launcher does not seem to work, only unofficially modmanager does. But without running steam modmanager I cannot get it to appear. If that makes sense?
