Although these 2 games are seperate and they are different in that M2:TW is made by Sega not Activion, I find this kind of interesting.
Before I got M2:TW, I was playing RTW, I've had no problems and I've uninstalled n re-installed it a number of times. However when I got M2:TW, I didn't uninstall RTW, my system can handle a number of games ok. Plus there were things I wanted to finish before I did.
Medieval 2, has been sluggish and it was poorer than, I knew it should be. When I uninstalled R:TW, it asked me if I was sure i wanted to remove a certain file. Which was the first time that ever happened.
(After asking the support, for the game it turns out the file is shared or being used by M2:TW aswell.)
Before I contacted the support, I made a backup copy of the file. I then started the uninstall program again, and removed the file. M2:TW failed to load. I then put in the backup copy of the file, and M2:tw worked again but not as good
so I just uninstalled M2:TW and re-installed it and it works fine, now I'm now able to play with Medium-best graphic details.
After this, I made a report for the CA support system, sending them a dxdiag and another system test file, and screenshots of various things and after few email replies, the support team came to the same conclusion as me that there is some how a confliction between Rome:total war, and Medieval2 :total war.
the final thing I got from the support team is they were passing it onto their dev team, who will properbly fix it with a patch.
The advice they gave of cause is if we do have both RTW and M2TW then if you want to uninstall 1, you properly have to uninstall both.
They had me run a number of tests, like re-install RTW, then try uninstalling M2TW to see if the same error/alert message came up which it did.
They didn't say how many, but I wasn't the only person that reported this.
