Default A video series about the Factions and Armies of the Warhammer world for those interested in learning about it before Total War:Warhammer

Greetings and salutations fair ladys and brave warriors of Total War Center!

Quite a few of you probably already know what Warhammer is, but for those amongst you that don't really know and are interested in giving Total War: Warhammer a chance i have started a series of videos detailing the various Factions in the Warhammer universe. And also a few "back ground" videos concerning the mechanics of Chaos and Religion in the Warhammer world.

They are split into 2 parts 1 about the Lore of the faction and the other detailing all the unites available to said faction with pictures of the unite and my own personal thoughts on how that unite may work in a Total War game.
Here are the links to the videos and i will be adding 1 new faction to my channel every week.

Nice. Are you going to do every major faction? Or just the ones we're expecting in an 'old world' warhammer game?

It would not concern me for game balance if they removed special characters from total war. But rather kept the generals list from the standard lords or heroes. Or simply have an empire general and call him Karl Franz, otherwise balance goes out the window.

    Thanks for your post arcaoon,
I was looking for some back ground on the factions and troop types. Look forward to more of your posts. It will be interesting what CA can make of it all. Not sure what the average player will make of it all on the battlefield as it will prob be a lot of special abilities. What I don't like is that the AI can use these all the time as the recharge time comes up, but for the player it can be a distraction in a battle to keep an eye on this. Can CA do flying creatures?

"flying" as flapping around in the sky with aerial combat and swooping attacks? probably not, but flying as in a glorified "jump" ability letting the unite move quickly around the map then probably

I know one thing for certain, if CA are going to do this game justice in terms of the Warhammer world, I'll need a new wizziee PC, and the one I have now is fairly decent.
arcaoon, if you can cut and the bad language on your vids then my son can watch them with me.

Are we presuming using common sense that it will be Warhammer and not Warhammer 40,000. Reading the forums it's as if some think it's the latter, perhaps many are only familiar with 40,000?

Hahahaha! i try to keep it to a minimum with the foul language but being Norwegian i normally curse like a drunk sailor that had a run in with a seagull while taking a leak, so yeah the habit is a bit hard to break

And yes we can be 100% certain that it will be Warhammer Fantasy as SEGA/CA do not own the rights to the 40k license they only own the Dawn Of War 40k license so until they acquire a broader license no 40k total war, and even if they do..... if warhammer is going to be hard to make into a good total war game 40k is going to be a Herculean task!

Good, thanks for the reply, not really interested in 40K.

why not have a second "floor" to these aerial units in the battle map? it would be double the work for the officer in command, but it would be spetacular.
it would be a skirmish viewable from below, and whoever wins terrorizes the men on the ground.

i daresay, transcend that to the campaign map. have aerial squadrons fly over the map, dodging anti-air and landing when the turn ends.

As awesome as that would be, it's going to require a new engine and atm we simply don't know weather we are getting one or have to deal with the old engine and so for the moment i am simply assuming that we're stuck with the old one for the sake of consistency. Hopefully CA will do it properly with a new engine and new mechanics for handling flying unites and in flight combat but i wouldn't get my hopes up to far just yet

At best it will probalby only be a modified Warscape again: http://i.imgur.com/A4C6ImX.jpg

I mean, maybe not, maybe it is "warscape 2.0" and yet can still use the same dev tools but this at least strongly suggests the same issues warscape has always had will be in the Warhammer game. It's one of the main reasons I'm not going to preorder, along with Rome 2.

Also, it's certain it'll be years of DLCs and sequels, milking the franchise. I'm not a huge fan, but that Dawn of War series reveals A LOT of factions from the WH universe.

I know, i know it's probably just warscape but.... i like to pretend sometimes that CA realizes that it just ain't gone work for Warhammer until they show us some Screenshots and some video there is still hope i say!

True! And maybe this different team might be able to get the mass thing right. It didn't hardly seem a problem with Shogun, why couldn't they have just done that in Rome 2??

Very nice series of videos, I learned a lot about the warhammer World (not so much about history ), too bad the French reference in your Skaven video kinda ruined the thing for me. Not sure I'll watch the rest, but it's a cool initiative regardless (I don't want to further ruin your thread)

Thanks for the vids, some of the units look so daft that it would be fun just to see them on an actual battlefield but I have no idea how you can get this to work, if your stumped by a Phalanx in RTW2 you can forget about CA getting anywhere close to doing some of those units justice.

Has all the potential for being the biggest blob-fest in the history of Total War and possibly so over the top that you wont care.

Yeah I thought those comments were odd, and out of place. Once would have been okay, but he repeated it quite a few times. Distracted from the point he was trying to get across I think.
