I played EB2 back in 2.01 version and I haven't play any other EB versions. Should I give it a go for its latest updates?
EBII keeps improving with each update; while some updates are smaller than others, each one contains bug fixes, CAI and real-time battle improvements, and balance changes that really add up quickly! In other words, yes! The latest update is also a breeze to install if you still have the original installation file. Just be sure you follow the directions precisely as they're written (on Page 1 of this thread)...

I'm amazed anyone can still play 2.01, battles were awful.

Buildings which provide (fast) conversion do so at a rate of 1% a year, but only up to a certain cap. So if it's up to 70%, once you hit that number, the 1% a year rate stops applying.

Finished metropolis at Baktra at turn 144 with a 5 influence FL.

Most of my family member and generals have none influence at all, despite of having lots of battle and civic experiences.

Please give more influence boosting traits to Hellenic factions.

With no influence, culture conversion is too slow (in my opinion).

Is anyone else still having trouble with Royal Apopintments to the Seleucid Court?
It seems to have become broken in recent updates,

Actually, that's about the fastest I'd want it to happen. 30-odd years to get Baktria to a Metropolis, absent the Ferghana colonists, is a good amount of time.

It should appear in turn 1 - is it not doing that?

It does have the help of a level 3 colony , other cities with no colony exist only moved about 10%-15% for these 144 turns.

Iv only played 5 turns on 2.04d with A.S. but I got a royal appointment straight away. Don't know if that helps.

2.04d noticed Segesta was captured by the Romans and then lost to the rebels in my Getai campaign. It is currently rebel held but ungarrisoned and forgotten, even tho the Romans have enough troops in the southern neighbouring province to retake it.

I'm getting the notification for the Royal Court appointment and following the instructions as normal...pressing the tick, the army tab and selecting a worthy.....but no-one is appointed.

The Royal Court appointment is a bit buggy; you have to select the character you want on the actual map itself. Sometimes you have to click on them multiple times. I'm not a scripter, so I can't really offer a proper solution, but this should hopefully help in the meantime.

Celtic factions should be recruiting 25-33% cavalry - that's not going to happen with the current options, so that will be revised for 2.04e.

I'll see if I can set it up like the successor script - only that it displays the 'army' window instead of the 'family tree'. That should simplify matters.

Edit: I noted that it was possible to select admirals and captains - which obviously will have no effect. The fixed script is now restricted to named generals and will display a message upon successful selection.

    Seleucid Royal Appointments.

I have had this working fine is previous versions, and I can't see that I have changed my process. For my game at least, it seems broken. Its no big deal, but thank you for investigating.

The current version allows you to click on captains and admirals who obviously will not get the necessary trait, but you don't get a second try - a large amount of 'doesn't work' impressions must have come from that. The lack of some confirmation didn't make it any easier - the fixed version should be in the next patch. It will only work on named characters (generals & male family members) and will trigger a message when a valid character was selected.

I don't think it is a notification problem. Previously a box was sliding down the left screen telling me I had successfully appointed a Royal Court member. I had a situation recently when, having failed to award the rank to any family member, I gave up and got on with the game. I decided to move my diplomat. I clicked him and the little box slid down saying HE was now a member of the Royal Court.
Now that was a diplomatic incident.....

That's what I meant - other characters could be selected. By the looks of it all your other (eligible) named characters must have been elevated to the Royal Court already.

The 'select me to give trait' sequence does not close until the trait can be given - meaning that theoretically you can ignore the process and continue playing. As long as no suitable character is selected (or you simply don't have anyone) during game play the trait will not be given.
The original criteria for the selection was simple: no faction leader or no faction heir - everyone else was eligible. Hence your diplomat got the trait, something that will not happen anymore.

The sliding box must have been the 'trait gained' notification, it doesn't 'pop open' - hence I added the pop up message.

Edit: depending on the authority level of the faction leader between 2-4 named characters can be appointed during the reign of one faction leader.

Had Massillia horde for the 4th or 5th time. It only took a regular turn time for the nation to go into horde. This is good but odd. Often I have the horde nation take 10 to 15 minutes. This is the same campaign in 2.04a that I played previously with 15 minute horde times. Any ideas? Perhaps do nations horde less and less each time. I mean less troops...

I think it maybe that after the first time some files are kept in memory - if you then have a horde again in the same game it should happen faster.

This could just be a regional internet issue, but I have been unable to download hosted files from TWC over the past few days — and this includes the latest EBII update in this thread (the download gets to around 1MB and then suddenly "fails"). Luckily, Quintus has a mirror of the download on the Total War Org forums — so if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as me, you can still download the file from the other forum.
