    Default Darkening detailed unit shadows

    I have found that since Barbarian Invasion (that includes both RTW 1.3, 1.5 and BI 1.4, 1.6) the unit shadows are much darker or have higher contrast. I'm working on a short film based on RTW 1.2 only because it is the only version for which the rendering function in the movie editor works. I personally think the darker in shadows in post 1.2 versions look far nicer and I'd like to include them; if possible. Is there a known way to darken these shadows through modding? I don't believe hard coding these kind of attributes would be necessary for Creative Assembly. Any tips would be greatly appreciated !

    You can draw some of the shadows onto the tga.dds with photoshop...but I don't think thats what your really asking. I didn't realise that the patches after 1.2 stopped the rendering function working.

    This image might help to explain what I mean by "Darker Shadows"

    The shadows in 1.5 are exactly identical apart from being simply darker. All video options used were identical.

    Sorry i should have got that from what you said but it was first thing in the morning,
    as understand it there is no way us mere mortals can enhance 1.2 to have 1.5 shadows.

    It just seems odd because if you'd look carefully at the original introduction video that shipped with RTW 1.0, you'd notice that the shadows looked like the ones you'd see in 1.3 and above.

    forget what ca does
    cause they render their videos ,screenshots and all on their beta versions
    and they release different version.

    re shadows
    is it possible to open a 1.3 version battle reply through a 1.2 version game ??
    if yes then ur problem is solved ,u can have two copies of rome installed
    1. patched with 1.2 and 2.patched with 1.5/1.3

    the reason 1.3 and 1.5 have darker shadows is that both versions have by default shadow option enabled .{the shadow bug}
    i mean u can not disable shadows completly u can only enhance them.

    That's interesting. Are you're saying that a 1.3 replay in 1.2 would yield darker shadows because there is a bug in 1.3?
