    Default couple of concerns..

great game so far but there are a few things which really get my blood boiling at times..

how come when sometimes charging infantry, there will be about 3 or 4 that are up there fighting while the rest stay back and relax even though there are obvious gaps that they can fill? i am suffering casualties that can be simply avoided by getting rid of this erratic unit behavior..

what is up with heavy cavalry? i've only managed to get a few charges that would classify as a 'charge' and not a 'crawl your way to the enemy then start meleeing'. they were 'fresh' or 'warmed up', they were marked with double arrows in the unit card showing that they were running..

and i really find it disheartening that units that would be normally held with low expectations in combat melee such as archers and crossbowmen or poor militia can put a dent into some of your best infantry. i do not consider this to be an error or a mistake on CA's part.. maybe i am expecting too much out of armoured swordsmen and dismounted knights? or maybe i've been playing RTW for too long and i am used to urban cohorts suffering 1 maybe 2 casualties to archers in melee combat. ( yeah i know they were considered overpowering )
this really becomes a pain when you are assaulting towers and (along with the tower arrow fire) the single unit of crossbowmen can easily halve my dismounted feudal knight amount before routing. haha, maybe i will actually have a need for artillery now.

with all of these annoyances in combat, i am finding myself to enjoy the campaign map more..

I've noticed some of this as well with my spear units, will usually only have one line of them in battle and the rest of the unit is behind standing there getting pelted with arrows. I've tried changing the formations and such and it has not helped.

But I am probably missing something - I'm brand new to the TW games.

These are all bugs you mention.
The heavy cavalry is very bugged and certanly way underpowered. A bunch of peasents can beat them easely.
I dunno where those 'medieval battle advisor were' (mentioned among creators) when CA did the whole thing...

Playing as Byzantium today i happend to notice Horse Archers seem much more competent than regular cavalry when it come to engaging im melee and chasing routing units (not in terms of strength, in terms of unit cohesion)..

My only concern with the game is the unit cohesion. Thats the only major problem i've seen on the game.

Well hopefully it will be addressed in the patch in a week or two..

If not, then maybe we could just tweak the heavy cav stats?

Although I don't know if adjusting the charge distance will stop them from running up to 20' away from infantry, then stopping and kind of moseying into battle one or two at a time.

As probably one of the only people on here (presumably) who has actually been run over by a horse before. I can tell you, that's a LOT of energy slamming into you. I wanna see bodies flying and lances skewering!
