Thread: Legendary generals :)

    Default Legendary generals :)

    Download:

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/5o...ygenerals.pack

Here is a full list of the mod`s features:

    Great generals live longer
Every additional skill point in Authority, Cunning and Zeal makes your general live longer, as every point decreases his chance of dying of natural causes. Your great generals will live very long, weak and unimportant ones will die as soon as in vanilla.
This effect goes up to -30 % at level 10 of each attribute, which means that in theory it could add up to -90 % chance of dying of natural causes. There are some exceptions, like Ybor, the Prophet of Godan, already starts with a decreased chance of dying so you really get to enjoy him.

    Generals better in combat
I increased the effects of Authority, Zeal and Cunning. A high level general with a lot of points will be a beast in battle, his bodyguard will be superior to regular units and on par with the elites. You don`t have to fear to hear "Your general has fallen" after a minute of combat.

    Better Attributes
Some effects of the attributes are also changed in a way that depending on how you choose to specc your general, each will develop a unique feeling.
A zeal-specced general live for battle and will accumulate kills quickly, cunning generals know how to defend themselves and will save you money, generals with high authority should stay behind your lines to boost morale.

    New skill tree effects

I have overhauled every single skill tree, to increase their impact and to distinguish the different cultural groups (Easterners, Nomads, Barbarians, Celts and Romans) stronger from eachother. Each cultural group will feel more unique.

Generals are now even more important in battle

They have an enhanced aura which gives an morale boost proportional to your general's level. After level 5 your general will also give a small boost to melee defence and melee attack to troops close to him. (Level 5,6,7-> +1; Level 8,9,10-> +2)

    New leveling system

It is now easier to level up your general during the first few levels, it gets harder later on. The later levels are more important because they give more skill points. So generals will need the exp from battles to become truly legendary.

    New skill tree descriptions

The descriptions on the skill tree have also been changed to make them more immersive.

    New army skill trees

The army skill trees are also being reworked so that you get attached to your favorite army.

I hope you enjoy the mod, constructive criticism and new ideas are always welcome

Definitely going to try this out! Is there a way to make it so your general or faction leader lives forever without worrying over the authority cunning etc?

That should be possible, I won't change it in this mod, I think it is enough if great generals live up to their 90's, but I think it would be easily moddable.

If you only want the faction leader you could add a -100% death chance by natural causes to the ruler office. For generals add the modifier to the first skill in the skill tree or something else which can easily be achieved.

    Have fun with the mod

Yeah basically all I'm looking for is to make the faction leader live forever.

I will try to make an extra mod for this, although it will take until the weekend.

I have to admit that I don't know how mediafire works.

Concerning removing the skill requirements, it could be possible to change the appearance of the skill tree, but that would require very intensive modding. At the moment, all I do is adding and changing stats of skills, traits and retainers or changing some mechanics until I am satisfied with my overhaul. After that maybe I'll change some descriptions and names or go on to army traditions...

However, I am not sure whether it is possible to change the skill tree itself or if it is hardcoded.

Seems like characters are scripted to die at the age of 85, even with a modifier of -1020% chances to die of old age, so there is no chance to make them immortal that way.

Important characters should reach 85 years even with the maximum of -90% they can get in my mod

From an historical point of view, with such a general gaining all this fame and influence it would be highly likely he would either attempt to make himself Augustus or the reigning emperor would try to quietly move him somewhere less important.
In a tribal faction fame and leadership in war is what made 'kings' the ability to lead in war and provide 'booty' to followers. So again it highly likely such a man would attempt to become king.
Might add to interest? Your show of course, nevertheless nice work.

I don't know if I'm imagining this or not, but in Attila Generals seem to be pretty squishy. I'm afraid to use my Generals in combat for fear of them getting killed. Is there any way we can make it so the General is the very last or one of the last guys to die in his unit?

you are not alone in thinking this, they have low defense, very low speed and so forth

but when they die it's making too much effect on soldiers

Ridiculous isn't what kind of king or emperor goes into battle with a weak defenceless cavalry escort?

or weak and very slow infantry escort.

well Attila is better than Rome II in general but not on everything sadly, this is one of them.
And we can't even choose which unit will be with general.
