foreign units?
i'm playing SS for the first time (ver 6.4) , can someone please elaborate on the foreign units feature or something, i noticed i can train lithuanian and cuman units in some castles after i captured them. Is this feature similar with the kingdoms britannia campaign?
and another question i have is regarding the "movement traits" and whether they affect the main army? None of my general's movement traits seem to affect the army's movement points (i've checked), but i've noticed some of the AI armies, those commanded by generals and not captains, have HUGE movement points, they almost double mine, even for armies with infantry (i checked with my spy). So, if the general's movement traits can affect the main armiy's movement points, what do i have to do to get those traits?

Re: foreign units?
aor units (area of recruitment or foreign as you call them) yes can be recruited only in certain provinces, kinda like mercenaries, just that they require you to own that province and have the required building, you will still be able to recruit you faction's specific units even in regions far from home so no worries
an example would be the byzantine Scholarii that can only be recruited and replenished in Constantinople and only by byzantines
another one would be Mourtatoi (archers) wich can be recruited (by any faction afaik) in castles that are located in (nowdays) Syria and eastern Turkey
i cant tell for sure if AI has any advantage in movement points, keep in mind that roads can greatly increase movement, what i can tell you is that generals leading armies fighting and conquering tend to have more movement points than those doing nothing

Re: foreign units?
Traits for more movement are logistic traits and good racer traits. The first you get by expending all your movement points every game turn. It is such an annoying thing to remember to do if you have more than a couple of generals. It is a pain once you have an empire. Good racer traits are gained by staying in settlements with stables and possibly some other buildings (or when races are being held in some mods). The probability of acquiring those traits varies from mod to mod, as do the types of buildings that give movement bonus traits. The converse can also happen, if you are lazy about these things: your generals may start getting alcoholic traits and the like, which are anti-traits that reduce their movement points.
