    Default Campaign crashing

Hi all, I am using third age vannilla 3.2 and the mod was working great until now. I'm playing as the silvan elves and on turn 98 and I have besieged Moria and if I win the battle and select any of the occupy, sack or exterminate it completely crashes. I have looked up to see if anyone else had similar issues , I have tried deleting the map file and descr geog files along with the. Strings txt and change my daylight savings and turning the UAC off and it still crashes. Any help would be much appreciated don't really want to restart all over, I am using windows 7

Hi there and welcome to TWC Forums!

    1) Is Moria the last town of the faction which owns it ( it should be Orcs of the Misty Mountains)?

    2) Is there an error message when it crashes? " Medieval II has encountered an unspecified error and will now exit".

    3) Open your system.log text file which is located in your Medieval II Total War/ logs folder, and copy/paste LAST 10-20 lines of text here in your post so someone could figure out is there something which can be done.

    4) What are your system specifications? Is it a laptop or a Desktop PC?

Hi thanks for the response ,I wasn't sure I had not acquired the rest of the mountain so didn't know who owned but my guess would have been yes it was the last settlement , yes there was a an error message, , for the part 3 and 4 I realised I didn't restart my laptop and I had to restart the game , I am up to round 81 so far and the misty orcs control one outpost I was able to conquer Moria perfectly fine this time, I will let you know if the error happens again

Glad to hear it works. When there is the last settlement for the AI(computer) faction,or you are trying to defeat a faction by conquering some of its regions and now several armies spawn out of nothing, then a script called The "help weakened factions’’ ensures it won’t be easy for the player to steamroll over the AI. Furthermore it will ensure factions won’t be destroyed easy early in the game.

Sometimes these scripts can overload-overheat your CPU and you experience an error, especially if it is a laptop. Clean-dust out your laptop often( do not use a vacuum cleaner! ), and use some good cooling pad to ensure no overheating issues.
