Default My high-end PC cant run the game maxed...

With my computer specs I should be able to run on max settings.

    Geforce 7900gt 256 MB
    2.75 GB of pc3200 RAM
AMD Athlon 64 4200+ (Duel Core)
21" Viewsonic Widescreen Monitor (currently at 1600x1050 res)

I want to run the game on my highest monitor resoulution because its widescreen. Right now I have to have shadows off (I want shadows on, I like the way they look). My AF is 4 and AA is 4, units are on Large, no bloom (I hate bloom), grass on medium (I want grass on high), and everything else is on high.

When I try to max everything, without bloom, my performance really stinks. Is it because of my res? If I run on 1280x1024 res, then the left side of the screen is cut off a little.

    Please help. Thank you.

Do you set your options on highest or high?

I have nearly the same setup as you except I have 2Gb of pc6400 dual channel ram, and I run everything maxed out (cept shadows havent tried maxing that out yet) and I'm running in 1440X900. I don't have any suggestion just that you should be ok to max out.

Ya, I SHOULD be able to, but I cant.

    Anyone have any tips?

    What's your framerate exactly?

I'm playing at 1680x1050 with almost everything maxed (shadows on medium) 2xAA 8xAF, on an X1900XT and A64 3700+ combo. Plays pretty well.. without fraps, my eyes are telling me 20-30FPS during battles.

Athlons aren't what they once were. Your system is indeed on the higher end, but compared to a Intel Core Duo, the Athlon is miles behind. Also, having a card with "only" 256 MBs of Ram isn't state of the art anymore. I have two systems. One, an Athlon 4600 Dual Core with an ATI X850Ultra 256 and 2 Gigs or Ram and one I have built up a week ago. That consists of an Intel core duo 6600, a Geforce 8800 GTS and also 2 Gigs of DDR 2. On the second, I can run full details, but on the first, my performance sucks.

Hm...it is a high resolution, but you have a better graphics card (mine is 7800 GS), more than double my Ram, and I only have AMD 64 3400+. I am working on 1280x1024 and all I have to do is turn of Anti Aliasing (which eats a lot of Ram and is not that important) and set grass levels to low. Otherwise, I am running on max settings. Strange thing that. I think your PC should be able to run the game excellently.

I got a 7900GS with 2 gig ram and an A64 3200+ and i can everything on high except i have to turn off shadows because my frame rate drops from 60 to 20, very weird. Probably my cpu? You guys with the 7900 cards what drivers are you using?

Hmmmm, when I get home I am going to try to have everything maxed but have shadows off and bloom. Well see.

Drivers? I have to check that too. I do wish I had a 512 MB card instead of a 256.

I have an NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 with the latest drivers, a 3.5 GHZ CPU, and 1 GIG of RAM. When I run everything on max save for unit detail which is only on "High" for obvious reasons, things are really slowing down.

(In other words, 4X Anti-Aliasing, 1280 x 1024 Res, "High"/"Extreme" shadows, "High" grass, "Highest"/"High" Vegetation Detail and "High" Building Detail as well as Anisotropic x 16.)

Right now, I started a custom battle with two armies, of only 1 unit each. In other words, there were two damn units on the whole freaking map. ("Canyon"), and I had a general of 10/12 FPS when zoomed all the way up, and roughly the same when zoomed in, although it went up to 20 when I was looking away from the map. The camera was also damn choppy. Yup, so a machine like mine can't show 240 units at the same time without slowing down. That's a load of ********. Especially considering that people with lesser machines than me can have roughly the same details and unit scale as me with much higher FPS. What the hell is going on here?

If I'm not getting any replies on this, I think I'll just start a new thread about it, because there's something really freaking wrong here.
