    Default Nvidia driver problems

    My System:

    AMD64 3200
    6600GT 128mb
    1gig RAM
    80gig HD.

Having just got my copy of M2TW, I thought it might be a good idea to update my drivers. The previous drivers I was using (83.77 or something) had given my no problems, but M2TW was running quite laggy so I figured some new drivers might help. I installed the new ones (using Drivercleaner Pro) and noticed a slight improvement in M2TW's FPS. So far so good.
Problem is, I'm starting to experience weird glitches with my monitor. It happened yesterday as I was viewing a website (Myspace IIRC). Basically, the monitor seemed to change its refresh rate, and switch itself on and off constantly. I still had control of the mouse for a while, but it locked up when I tried to close the Firefox window, so I had to hard-reset the PC.
It also happened when I attempted to play another game, Battle of Britain II: Wings of Victory. I attempted to start an instant action mission and the same problem occured. I thought it was caused by the game engine trying to load, but I tried it again by starting a campaign mission and everything worked fine (the new drivers actually caused a significant improvement)

I've had problems before with NVIDIA drivers and video playback, (when I installed the card, due to missing codecs) but those issues disapeared a long time ago. I'm thinking it something to do with that (there was video clip on the Myspace page, and on the BOB2 instant action setup screen.). Strangely, M2TW movies work fine

    Anyone got any ideas?

Well there have been lots of reported problems with the newest nVidia drivers (91.34 I think, although im not sure much about nVidia). Go back to an slightly older set of drivers.

Thats what i'm planning to do. Its the only option really, but it means that M2TW will be running fairly badly.
The thing that I dont get is that i've read posts from other members with similiar (or less powerful) machines than mine that are playing at higher graphics settings and getting much better FPS.
Should probably do a complete reinstall of windows and start from scratch, but its too much hassle (and last time I did it, it caused more problems)

I use the 93.71 drivers myself. With the 6xxx series of cards you are better off using 80.XX drivers, around 88.XX should be good.

And for the comment above, nvidia driver support is leaps and bounds above ATI drivers.
