Kingdoms not working on E Drive

My laptop's mb gave up. I moved back to my backup desktop computer (win 7) and installed the laptop hard drive as an external drive - Drive E. I'm trying to keep the C drive clean of games and distractions and only use it for work so it doesn't get clogged up with games and saves as the last one did.

M2TW works fine from E- didn't have to do anything. Kingdoms is also installed but won't run at all. Either from the Launcher or by doubleclicking on the kingdoms.exe icon. It just comes up with an error that says M2 with an exclamation mark then quits.

(this is all from disks nothing to do with steam)

I tried reinstalling Kingdoms from the disk, but all it says is "M2 is not installed" presumably because its only looking at the c drive.

I only want to get it running to play TATW 3. I'd rather not reinstall and patch everything onto C because that will take forever and I'm trying to keep it clean for work related things.

I'd appreciate any guidance. I tried the replacement launcher but it couldn't locate m2 or Kingdoms

Your problem will be the connected registry entries (which are non-existent), certainly where the kingdoms disk is concerned - and you need to insert it to play kingdom based mods. If you have the original disks then simply re-install on drive E:
If you only want to play TATW then you don't have to install all kingdom campaigns - one will be enough to update files and install the necessary executable file. In fact you can delete the mod folder (brittania, americas, crusades or teutonic) without any problem once you are finished installing.
